Thanks for your kind words, Val. I must admit I was still in shock from the news about 08 when I wrote that post. That shock has now turned into anger at such a senseless act. After the loss of the two birds last year I was hoping against hope that there wasn't anything sinister behind their disappearance. The only conclusion I can now arrive at is exactly the same as the RW team, that all three died at the hands of humans, and all were probably shot. I think it's also fair to conclude that they are being targeted deliberately, and if that's the case I guess the 'evidence' will have been disposed of.

That's the good news that we needed at the moment, Vespa. 03's success rate in fathering chicks that have made it through to adulthood is impressive to say the least. Of course the best news we could get at the moment would be the return of one of 08's offspring from 2009.

Wasn't 2009 the year that 03 (97) was struggling with the fishing and 9(98) stepped in to lend a talon? Also a new female has not affected the success of the nest.

Incubation continues at MB:
Only just found out about the terrible news about 08(97). The fact that he disappeared in the same area as the 2 male birds last year must give some clue as to who is responsible for these crimes. It is galling that all the great work at RW could be undone by some idiot with a gun.
Changeover at MB:
No hatch yet at a very windy Manton Bay:
Another changeover at MB, still no sign of a hatching:
Nice fish just delivered by 5R at MB. Eggs all intact.
Not looked in for some time but glad to see that eggs are still being incubated, I expect hatching is imminent.
Lovely captures btw.
