Definitely an egg. Oooops!!!
Delighted that 5R is back. He is one mighty fine osprey. Egyptian geese watch out!!!
A few minutes ago, the goose's mate appeared and they were both honking at what seemed to be an intruder - then the mate flew, and 2 goose/osprey sized birds were seen flying across in the background. Things seem to have calmed down now though.
For some reason I can't record from the Rutland cam with Jaksta. It looks like it is downloading ok but then can't play it back once finished. Strange.

Has the goose just buried her egg in the nest?
This could become very interesting.
Yes she has and then flown off, perhaps to eat.
This has happened before. The geese are chased off and any eggs get buried. The ospreys then carry on as normal. In 2009 geese laid 3 eggs in the nest. The osprey didn't breed that year but the eggs still got buried. Last year there was one egg laid, a different colour so not sure whether it was a duck or a goose that laid that one. Anyway, the osprey took over and raised their own brood of 3 chicks in the nest.
Goose is back.
Taken a few mins back, she was covering the egg - now flown off
