Thanks Alan. I had obviously heard about the hierarchy rules when the birds are fishing, but I had never thought of the adult birds chasing away the juveniles until they find a place where they are accepted and allowed to stay. We were always told it was the fishermen, who were the ospreys biggest enemy, when both bird and man were trying to fish. It was also sad to learn that the juveniles are still not efficient at catching fish for themselves when the river is teeming with fish. We watch the migration and think that they must be finding food in much less fish stocked waters. I wonder how many just die of starvation
The Rutland team have posted more photos in the blog - report to follow - and also more videos - including one, I believe, of our very own lyndab.
SueC : I can confirm that it is our very own Lyndab in the video.
It sure is me! Here's my first report for the RW blog.

Many thanks for the report lyndab, obviously you enjoyed the trip. Loved the video at the school with the kids crowding to look in through the window!
