HAPPY NEW WEEK

I hope everyone has a good week.

I regret I have nothing to report tonight. We had high winds and Arctic cold all week. My house was freezing, and I accomplished exactly nothing except too much sleeping. I hibernated along with all the wildlife! LOL

I do hope all of you will be safe from Storm Darragh tonight. It sounds like a wicked bad storm. Sending protective energy to all of you.

Love and hugs to everyone.

  • I think there were posts about "Ring of Bright Water" recently.  We met up with friends in Aviemore today.  We hadn't seen them for a couple of years.  Our friends live on The Isle of Seil which is where much of the film was made. We have visited them there and enjoyed the wonderful views.

  • Lindybird:  Thanks for the laugh.

AQ:  What a hassle all that paperwork is. A wonder they didn't ask for your DNA.  We put a bottom freezer LG w/French doors in the AZ house.  When it arrived, granddaughter said it still looked empty after she'd unloaded all the groceries. (But it had room for a pizza without having to rearrange everything!)

Buyers of AZ house have accepted our offer of a credit in lieu of repair and now it's up to the escrow officers to shuffle papers back and forth and make sure all the Ts are crossed and the I's are dotted.  Escrow to close December 30.  One less thing on my list of 'things.'

Meanwhile, Ms D 'suddenty' remembered her school choir is performing with the local high school choir  tonight at the Xmas concert.  Granddaghter is still getting over the dry pneumonia so not sure if she should go and daughter is not up for being out late on a very cold (for us) night so I will be in the audience waving the flfag.   This has been a really busy week . And Christmas is how many days???   Arghhh.

  • Heather - Glad your family are rallying round to help with the shopping.

Dibnlib - That film has had good reviews.

We've been indulging in a long saga on our DVD collection -- "War & Peace!" - The original series from 1972. We first watched this when we were planning our wedding (1973) and couldn't afford to keep going out for entertainment.

It was very long,  but each episode was about 50 minutes, so we watched two at a time. Very enjoyable. It starred Anthony Hopkins and Alan Dobie.

  • AQ - You might gather that as we are watching DVDs, there is not much on TV here  either!! Glad the new fridge is a success. You can make good use of the larger freezer section, I'm sure. I was sympathising with you in the aftermath of the funeral, as I remember the seemingly never ending  saga of telling those who needed notifying about my parents deaths. Eventually you'll be able to sigh with relief and find that you've cleared up all of the list.

SunnyKate - I saw that on TV this morning.  I do like puzzles and we watch the "Only  Connect" series on TV even though half of the time we can't see how the contestants get to the answers so quickly!!

Went Christmas shopping today and in a Tescos many miles from here, where we had popped in for a few "bits" we were suddenly aware of being addressed by a couple. They turned out to be our neighbours back in Wales where they have the next door caravan to ours! They said they were glad to see us as they have now sold their caravan & they had missed saying goodbye to us! What a huge coincidence.

  • Annette I see you came on while I was writing my long ramble. Hope you enjoy the concert.

  • Who was it that said 'Work expands to fill the time available for it ' ? I cannot for the life of me see where the time goes when I am , compared to everyone else, doing what amounts to very little !

Plenty of time means time to ' worry about the day which never comes'. That was my late husband's saying and its very true. I have a seven year old and a nine year old (granddaughters) coming to stay for a week and I'm fretting about whether anything precious will get broken as they rush around the house. How stupid . I have been a grandmother for 26 years and nothing has ever been broken . Not that I can remember, anyway. So, as I said, too much time on my hands, obviously.....

ROSY- I wonder if your husband is back at home yet ? You have certainly had a worrying time of it for the last few months.

ANNETTE - the same for you, rushing here and there. I'm really pleased that the AZ house is almost off your hands.

AQ, - I had forgotten just how much there is to do following a bereavement. I do remember asking my stepson and his son to help me sort out my OH's clothes etc. Almost everything went to charity, except for his kilt outfits and some good cufflinks etc, which I was happy to give  them.

OG - So glad that J is feeling more cheerful. That will make you and EE more cheerful also!

LINDY - I think you have got the Christmas jumpers and other presents organised !  I have sent money to most of my family. It's horrible to have to do that but needs must. I have 22 if one adds up my children, stepchildren, their partners, grandchildren, their partners and now a great grand child ( who is super cute !)

RUSTY - busy as ever ! Where do you find the energy? I like reading about your adventures - and agree with whoever it was that commented that it must be good to have a social event and speak English !

I'd better stop now and hope this posts OK

  • Don't know how that posted twice ! Sorry.

Just came here to say that my kidney scan showed that the abnormal area is just ' some fat adjacent to the kidney, which is excellent news'. The letter arrived about an hour ago.

  • Glad to hear the good news Heather.
