HAPPY NEW WEEK
I hope everyone has a good week.
I regret I have nothing to report tonight. We had high winds and Arctic cold all week. My house was freezing, and I accomplished exactly nothing except too much sleeping. I hibernated along with all the wildlife! LOL
I do hope all of you will be safe from Storm Darragh tonight. It sounds like a wicked bad storm. Sending protective energy to all of you.

Granddaughter was released from hospital yesterday afternoon into the care of her parents, at their house – with district nurses calling. Has an appt for probable removal of the drain this Thursday. Doesn’t look like she’ll be back at work this term.
J is not quite right – still got the original symptoms he has had for several months. But he is a lot more cheerful than he was.
PAT – glad you have resumed driving, but don’t overdo it on the ankle.
LINDA – we too had it cold and dull today. Good that you are getting follow-up endoscopy in January. We also have had a trickle of Ch cards – putting them in a box and awaiting inspiration to stand them up after cleaners have done last visit next week - or to decide not to stand them up at al! I had another bad night last night – J disturbed us just as I was falling asleep, and I never managed it again until morning. Did snatch a nap in the afternoon.
Not a normal day out tomorrow – we have booked a Christmas lunch at the nearest Garden Centre. Don’t know how I ever thought I would eat three courses – there is a two-course option, but my favourite part is the starter! Fog is forecast, but I think that will have cleared by lunchtime.
OG - you said about the bug which is going round! It certainly is. I know at least 4 people who are suffering from this coughing thing and 2 of them have taken to their beds! Lindy - fancy getting an appointment out of the blue. It a pleasant experience to look forward to but always good to have a check up. Pat - so glad you are driving again. I am sure your ankle will loosen up with use.
I have 2 very pleasant occasions to report. Yesterday the French group had our social for Christmas. We had a sort of afternoon tea affair. We all took contributions. I lived the scones one of the men had made. It was a recipe from the BBC Good Food Guide (I think) scones made with the addition of some custard powder. He also made a rhubarb compote and brought clotted cream!! It was like having rhubarb and custard. They were delicious and I had 2!!! They were only small!!! We chatted in English which was nice and had a lovely sociable time. Today was the Flora and Fauna group’s Christmas lunch which I had organised. We met at the local country park and had a stroll by the river. I made a little nature quiz which people seems to enjoy. The cafe at the nature reserve always makes us a full Christmas lunch and it is always excellent. I enjoyed my turkey with all the trimmings and lots of veggies. I had chocolate torte instead of Christmas pud. It seemed to have quite a bit of alcohol in it!!
I think tomorrow I will walk around and deliver local Christmas cards. I may go to see my friend in the assisted living but will ring first in case she is expecting other visitors.
Evening all: Two busy days here with appointments all over. Handyman tried to install a sliding screen door at daughters house this morning but was flummoxed by existing wonky door frames. Now to Plan B, which needs to be decided! Have done nothing toward Xmas as yet apart from taking decorations from top shelf in garage and putting on lower shelf. Meanwhile, granddaughter got that nasty cough which disappeared but then came back as dry pneumonia. She's improving but I've been doing the pick-iup-after-school run with Ms D so we can stop by the ranch to put on horses' overnight blankets although daughter has now hired a ranch worker to do that.
Arizona house is in escrow thank heaven. Inspection highlighted a couple of problems we already anticipated, but septic tank clear-out and inspection today was good so now we just have to negotiate some details with the buyers. Fingers crossed all goes well.
PatO; Wonderful independence, being able to drive again. Hurray! Trip down memory lane must've been bitter-sweet; such a shame that some places are now off-limits for travelers.
OG: Sorry J still isn't quite right, though improved attitude counts for a lot. Hope your granddaughter does well; good she's near her parents. Hope you sleep well before your Xmas lunch.
Rusty: What a change to chat in English with your French group. That must've felt odd.
AQ; Was really pleased to see your mention of an outing to Murattiis to meet your (former) travel friend - how long has it been? What kind of fridge did you get? We have this ancient workhorse with a skinny freezer you can barely fit a pizza in! Do you have someone to go through OH's clothes etc. That must be difficult.
Off to find rubbish on TV.....my brain needs to recuperate from too much organizing.

KATE - Ah, the first challenge was "what is GCHQ". OK, I've Googled it. I decided I have enough challenges in my life at present, letting all & sundry know that OH has passed. This one wants a death certif, that one wants copy of will, some want certified copy, some want photo of. And then there are the forms. <sigh> I have not yet had to answer with my grandmother's shoe size but I would not be surprised.
ANNETTE - Fridge is LG with bottom mount freezer. The freezer is a little larger than previous with smaller fridge section - suits me. I am working my way through OH's summer clothes for starters. Many are not fit for anyone (he could bear to part with them obviously). Those in reasonable condition are off to charity - first bags ready for delivery next time I'm driving that way.
I've spent the day moving sprinkler across the lawn which was "shaven" yesterday. Very crisp & crunchy underfoot. Nothing but utter rubbish on TV again tonight.

I've got replies to make and will do so ! Just feeling very unorganized at the moment. Different offspring are doing shopping for me - it was easier when I was 100% fit to run around town but needs must... I've got lists for this and lists for that.

ANNETTE Interested to hear about the horse blankets. Some years ago my friends husbands business bought a livery. This was because the livery was to be sold and her 2 daughters horses were there.....it looked as though the livery was to be sold and the fields built on. I think she said the most time consuming thing was changing the horses blankets to suit the weather and circumstances so I am not surprised to know that your daughter has hired someone to do this!!
