HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a good week.

Winter has arrived on my patch. We had 2.5 inches (6.35 centimeters) of snow with 40 mph wind gusts on Thursday. It has melted now.

I left a carrot in the opening of the groundhog's burrow before the storm, but he didn't eat it. He's probably gone into hibernation. I left his carrot, in case we get the brief warm up predicted for Sunday and Monday.

I laughed this morning. Even with the cold, there was a lone surviving super mosquito flying around my bedroom.

Love and hugs to everyone!

  • Do hope you are free of the virus soon  OG.

  • DIANE, I've just sent you a PM , hope you get it soon.

  • RUSTY  I do not like hot chocolate though my OH loves it, anyway I noticed today that our garden centre is doing black forest hot chocolate so I might just be tempted!

  • dibnlib - Oooo, that sounds delicious!  I do like a good hot chocolate, and one with a Black Forest flavour sounds excellent.  I have a bit of a reputation at my bowls club, where they do a very good hot chocolate.  On one occasion it really wasn't hot - barely warm - and I mentioned it afterwards.  Ever since, I have always been offered a HOT hot chocolate!  Gratefully received.

  • Morning all:  Another week so far of unexpected events and granddaughter is doing TxGiving dinner today but at our house, not hers (she works at the hospital tomorrow.)  Lovely to read others' news and will try to catch up in a day or two.

  • How is your foot/ankle, PAT ?

Thinking of AQ as she tackles her garden tasks etc.

OG - I looked up Farmers Breakfast - it would seem to be a sort of hash with bacon, potatoes and onion , fried together with a fried egg on top? The Danes have a similar dish called Biksemad - with left over cold meat instead of bacon. Merete made it here, last Monday, with cold beef left over from Sunday roast. I didn't have the egg - have completely gone off them for some reason.

Have just spotted your post, ANNETTE - enjoy your early Thanksgiving dinner ! Hope all is OK.

  • Heather - Thank you for asking about my injured limb.  Yesterday it was every shade of purple, which hopefully means the bruise is coming out and it should soon be back to normal.  Today I have not taken any pain-killers and not worn my flight socks - the purpleness seems to have faded a little and the pain is not too bad.  So ridiculous, and so limiting - I dare not drive as I don't think I could cope with an emergency stop without screaming out in pain.  So I'm housebound.  I do need to get out either tomorrow or Friday, to get some food - I won't starve with what's in the freezer, but I do prefer fresh fruit and vegetables if possible.

That Farmer's Breakfast sounds great!  I try not to eat too much fried food, but can always make an exception for something so delicious.

  • RUSTY – I knew you would not have missed lunch!!!

HEATHER – Parking adds to stress with medical appts. I hope the results are good and soon.

DIBNLIB – £2.80 for a card is expensive (= $A5.60). The UK cards I posted this week were $3 (card only) and $4.30 (as I had enclosures for OH’s cousins).

PAT – Would keeping your foot up speed recovery? Get mobile soon.

Farmers Breakfast? Brings back memories of those loaded plates of English Breakfast in B&Bs on my travels. Slight variation in Scotland (plus haggis, yum).

Last week Lawn Man phoned to delay a week. He didn’t come yesterday, surely that little bit of rain didn’t put him off? I waited until 3.30 pm to go to supermarket as some χmas goodies were on special. Early bird catches the worm! My fridge is not well so I have not bought the turkey roll yet. Checking online I learn that this brand of fridge is notorious for leaking water “after 10 years”, repairs expensive and useless. No idea how old this one as I cannot find where OH put the paperwork. I have decided on a slightly smaller replacement but, hey, shops have gone mad with Black November sales (another adoption from over the pacific waves). I am sure the fridge I want will be out-of-stock. As long as fridge still works, I am eating my way through freezer and I shall wait. After all it is a versatile unit – washes floor as well as chills food. Ha ha.
