HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a good week.
My forest looked quite mystical this past week. Freezing fog hung in the trees and frost covered the ground. It's turning warm again now, but the wildlife are very actively hunting for food. They are eating heartily to put on weight in order to make it through the winter. The groundhog needs to double his weight to survive the long hibernation. I seem to be constantly hungry, too! LOL
Love and hugs to all.
Lindy - how did the steam inhaling go? Hope it helped. I have read all the items about air fryers with interest. I have been at many lunches (lol!!!) when the discussion has turned to air fryers. My conclusion? - I am not going to get one. Like AQ - I do batch cooking and just heat up a portion when required in the microwave. I think I am too set in my ways to change now.
2 interesting events this morning. I went to the O2 shop and spoke to “a real person” I have negotiated a cheaper tariff for my mobile phone. All of £3.49 per month cheaper!!! Then I called and got some white pansies to plant in pots this afternoon. My gardening friend tells me they will stand out in the dull days of winter. We will see. For those of you keeping tabs - I was out to lunch 4 times this week!!! (One was a picnic) I was at home today. What happened there????
Rusty - I won't be buying an air fryer either. I don't do batch cooking but I do cook fresh every day (when I'm at home) and can't really think of a reason I need one. I have been out a lot this week - on Wednesday I played in a bowls match and there was a meal afterwards. Today I was playing bowls and a friend came for lunch at the club - delicious chilli! Tomorrow it will be chicken with vegetables and noodles, done in the slow cooker. And Sunday it will be a picnic lunch eaten in the car between appointments - too complicated to try to find time for a proper meal! I am also trying to sort out my mobile phone. At the moment I have an expensive smartphone on which I make calls (very occasionally) and send texts (probably a couple a week) and am paying a monthly contract. Now I'm told my phone won't work any more when they go over to 4G (whatever that means!!) so I am going to get a 'dumb' phone which just sends texts and makes calls. Most of the time my phone is in my handbag, switched off. So I can save myself a little bit of money.
Lindy - Hope the ears are recovering. It's horrible when you can't hear, and especially if you have pain as well.
Hey, Pat.
My area went 4G a few years ago, and I had to buy a new phone. I could NOT afford and was not inclined to spend a fortune on one of the top smartphones. But at that time I was still doing freelance work, and I needed some of the functions of a smartphone.
I spent less than $100 (US) on a Samsung phone. I've been amazed at how reliable that phone has been. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the high-end phones, e.g. it has a functional camera, but not a posh one. I don't know whether that brand is available in the UK, but I thought I'd mention my good experience with it. GOOD LUCK.
PAT: Also, this is Indiana, and this phone has stood up to fiercely cold and sweltering hot weather. Plus, I've never had to replace the battery.
We are on 5G here. Granddaughter's ancient smart phone (3G) barely creaks along and she's on the verge of replacing it. We tend to use our mobiles most of the time although I try to keep texts to minimum - use mostly for quick exchanges with a limited number of contacts.
ANNETTE: I think 5G is available here now, but I'm using 4G Lite. Some of the small towns in the region don't have much internet at all, but Starlink has become available and folks are moving to that.
