HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!

The full moon is Sunday morning in the UK and the US.

Three of the raccoons are growing huge like their mother. The little one is only half the size of his siblings. I wonder if he's healthy.

I'm leaving on Tuesday to spend a few days dog-sitting for my friends in Indianapolis. This has been a bad summer for several personal reasons, and I'm looking forward to a change of scenery. My friends have all the streaming channels. I'm going to watch TV, treat myself to pizza and key lime pie, and cuddle the 5 dogs.

Everyone have a good week. Love and hugs to all!

  • Well done, Pat! Frustrating for you.....

We were rooting for Justin Rose but felt he might not quite manage it. I'm sure he'll receive a nice prize though for being 2nd.

A big surprise that Biden finally caved in - wonder if feeling grim from having covid made him wish he could just retire, now! Interesting to see what happens next....

  • Gosh, quiet on here....

Grey skies here with threatening clouds. Its not cold but not very warm, either, for July! Too much to reply to as I'm a bit behind lately.

But OG - Yes, I remember you having a Family Conference a while back but I thought perhaps you'd had to have another in light of recent events. Its a sticky situation for you all. I hope a solution can be found.

A Quote - (not necessarily in relation to my reply to OG!)

    There is a light somewhere,

It may not be much light but

    It beats the darkness.

    Be on the watch.

The Gods will offer you chances,

    Know them...

  • Now I've come on and I've found that I did some replies yesterday, but one of them was repeated.  So I clicked on "Edit" and asked for one of them to be deleted. It seems to have deleted two of the three posts so now I think I may have also deleted Rusty's post!  What a strange Site this is....

    Not sure whats going on...

Today is sunny here but not very warm for July. There is a huge truck next door, taking away the household goods for the renting neighbours, who have told us that they wanted to leave and get somewhere else to rent.  They do also have a permanent property somewhere but this is just for his work as a professional footballer, so as to be near where he trains. They probably earn mega money and the rent for the house next door is twice most of the local houses - I looked it up on Google and its eye watering! Wonder who we will get as neighbours next?

  • Yes Lindy, my post was also deleted - not there was anything of particular interest in it!

  • Hi.   Read about Joe Biden stepping down but who really is there to take over!!

Thanks Diane , once again for starting the week off.

Daughter-in-law has finally got a moving date (9th Aug) when they move out of their terraced property and into a detatched one in a nicer area of the town.  All systems go for them busy packing up a lifetime of memories so far.  We all know what that was like.

Not a lot going on although have now been given a new date to see a consultant re knee and that is this coming Friday. Apparently the original consultant I was to see is retiring so not taking new patients.  Will have to see what this one decides but hope for a replacement as pain is all the time even taking paracetamol.

Will have a quick look back at last weeks posts but otherwise that seems to be me.   Weather cloudy with some sunshine but not too cold.

  • Lynette:  Maybe a knee replacement in your future?

Looks like Kamala Harris is presumed Democratic presidential candidate.  Here the big speculation is who she'll pick as her running mate with the focus on three or four candidates from mostly swing states (ones where the Republican vs. Democrat race is very close) and who'd be seen as a good balance to Harris's West Coast (read 'too liberal') origins.  She's expected to choose someone this week.

  • Lindy !!!! Fancy deleting me!!!! I forgive you. I think the list waffled on about the buffet for the French class in any case! Interesting news about the house next door and it’s now former tenants! I take it your OH has not yet had his biopsy results.

Lynette - I do hope the consultants appointment brings about something positive for you.

Today’s outing for the Flora and Fauna group which I have very much been looking forward to, turned out to be rather stressful for me. 23 of us turned up to walk along part of the Wales coastal path. It was a beautiful day. We have some very serious botanists, some birders and some people who just like to walk and chat. Also, we have our founding member who is now 85. I had spoken to him and gently reminded him that it was our longest walk and he found it a struggle last year. He is very stubborn and determined so we sorted out a way that one person left their car at the halfway point so that he could be picked up there. People went off at various paces (some people were still in the car park botanising for a good 40 minutes after the rest of the group left) We soon got very spread out and it was obvious to me that the gentleman in question was struggling. So I hung back with him. I found it extremely difficult to walk so slowly. When we were about just over half way there he was going slower and slower and wobbling a bit. Another lady came back to look for us and walked with us. I had to take his arm and basically hold him up. We decided that his blood sugar was low. He has type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, he is getting very forgetful and he is also stubborn. Eventually we insisted that we help him to sit down at the side of the path and eat his picnic. I had to stand behind him so that he could lean on my legs. It was scary and stressful. I phoned 2 of the men (one of whom owned the car which had been parked at the halfway point) and they came eventually. By this time the food was doing its work and the gentleman was able to walk with help to a bench. He ate some more picnic and managed to walk to the car to be taken home. I continued to the designated picnic spot but the forward part of the group had finished their lunch and was walking back. I got caught up by the botanising group from behind. I then walked back with a couple of them and came home. I was absolutely shattered. Such a shame but the gentleman is sadly ageing. It comes to us all. After 2 cups of tea I revived enough to make tea and had a big glass of wine with that!!! I have been out to do the watering and feel not too bad now. I fear we are going to have to suggest that our founder member doesn’t attempt some of the walks in future. I find that very sad.

  • In haste - Tuesday night.  A fine day.  Also a busy day, in out and round about!

May not "see" you tomorrow - Dau and S-i-L will be here all dayto get lots of jobs one! Will hope to catch up Thursday, sorry.

  • A VERY quiet day on here.  Hope everyone is just busy being normally busy.  :-)

Rusty:  That's disconcerting about your group's founder.  Another older gentleman not willing to recognize his limitations....

  • I did see your post RUSTY - I love most French cheeses - especially Roquefort and now I'll have to put it on my shopping list !

I've read everything on here and every morning think about writing. Unfortunately, that's as far as I get. It's not as if my days are filled with frenetic activity. I think I'm just lazy.

I felt sad when reading about your elderly friend, RUSTY. It's fortunate that you were keeping an eye on him. Maybe he'll think about giving up the walks.

I hope that Lynette will get her knee replacement sooner rather than later. The waiting lists are stupidly long in some places. A friend got so desperate that she paid  £12.000 to have it done in a private hospital. She dithered about it but her son persuaded her that would be money well spent.

Thinking about LINDYs OH - and hoping that OGs daughter and SIL will achieve things today.

Also sending thoughts to AQ ....

My youngest daughter came from Elgin yesterday, to do some tidying up in the garden. She also did one or two house jobs that I'm unable to do (yet). This thing about not bending down is driving me crackers ! However, necessity is the mother of invention and it is surprising what one can do with a grabber stick and an ordinary floor mop. I'm sure that I could clean the shower tray that way !
