RESUMÉ FOR MAY 2024

The new couple’s relationship has continued to grow. They have worked hard together to maintain and strengthen their nest, bringing in new materials daily. Both birds have been catching fish and sharing these with each other. They have also shared incubation and developed strategies to get each other off the eggs when needed! They have also defended their nest from intruders, the most traumatic being when Blue 432, Eshells, a 3 year old returner from Kielder visited on the 9th of May.. Blue 372 fought hard to keep her place on the nest as she was continually chased and dive bombed in Blue 432’s bid to oust her. The eggs were left unattended for around 3 1/2 hours. Luckily it was a warm evening so hopefully no damage done. The most exciting visit came from dear KA9 (22), Gelert, son of LJ2 and LM6 when he arrived on the morning of the 25th of May. It was a short visit as he was soon ushered away by LJ2.

  • Yeah, it’s nice thanks Karen, it didn’t last long so snapped at the right time. Blush

  • Brenig FB reported an intruder at the nest several times today.

  • 21.33 LJ2 took away the fish earlier but 372 spies a leftover piece in front of her, she leans over to grab it and stands up.

She moves to the back of the nest to eat.

    21.34

After she finished eating, 372 flew off, just as LJ2 was flying in from the left of the nest.

LJ2 has the fish in his right talons.

    372 lands just after LJ2

21.35 LJ2 waits but 372 doesn’t take the fish. She settles down on the bobs again.

21.36 LJ2 flies off with the fish and some moss.

  • 22.25 372 had stood up then LJ2 arrived with the fish.

372 was making plenty of noise but went back to the bobs rather than taking the fish.

22.26 LJ2 started eating the fish.

22.35 Night cam comes on, LJ2 is still eating.

23.45 LJ2 finishes eating and releases the tail end. He wipes his beak against a stick.

22.46 372 is still making noise as LJ2 leaves.

  • June 13

Good morning. 372 started making a lot of noise, got up, retrieved last night’s fish leftover, then dropped it and flew off for a comfort break. 04.31
