Asha & Brodie
The partnership has matured this season, with Asha continuing her good female role (and she loves nest-building) and Brodie being more reliable, both fishing and incubating.
The pair have fought their way thru all kinds of nasty weather - snow, wind and rain - and intruders, including the dreaded KL5 Klive, have been a nuisance but not dangerous...
so far.

EDIT
********
Sadly, the month of May heralded irresistible aggression from BlueKL5 "Klive", who had ruined the end of last season for the 2 juvies.
Within the first 2 days Klive had driven Brodie from the area (tho Brodie did return a couple of times to dive-bomb Klive, to no effect) and destroyed the eggs. He commenced to woo Asha clumsily, selfishly and inappropriately, as can be seen from the following pages.
IMAGICAT
Thank you for all your great coverage Scylla and Sheila.
09:14 - Unringed Osprey preening on cam perch - the zoom was too late, but in any case it had its back to us the whole time, only showing brief views of its face,
No-one seen since.
Thank you Glider!
It's such a pity that the PTZ was zoomed in too late to get any look at our visitor, but thank you for trying Scylla. All I can say the markings that I saw were very defined and very dark against white rather 'fluffy' markings. The right 'mask' appeared to have an upward line on it above the eye, which may make it distinctive should it return!
It refused to turn round, and flew off at 09.27
No sign of either Asha or Klive, or any intruder throughout the afternoon. In scanning I might have missed Klive with a fish on the dead tree or totem pole, but I feel he would have popped back to the nest before flying off.

Just in case this man wants to see himself in a movie but it's a bit dark and brief:
SheilaFE said: In scanning I might have missed Klive with a fish on the dead tree or totem pole
...but you didn't SHEILA, I cropped the corner and peered closely till dark
Our first day with no identifiable Osprey whatsoever?
22 July
No-one seen up to 07:00.
No-one found on either cam up to 13:00 - not even a Woody, pecker or pigeon
And still no sign of anyone or anything. The sky has brooding clouds and no sunshine until recently when patches of blue sky have appeared. Has Asha given up on Klive ever being a good enough provider to raise her chicks, or moved on or migrated. It seems particularly early for the latter. As for Klive I have no idea what he is up to! He ousted the breeding male, Brodie, taken over the nest and proved he is good a building nests and seeing off intruders, but hasn't 'wooed' Asha. Such a shame.
Sheila a very good summing up to a sad end to the season after a very promising start. If only Brodie could have ousted Klive the outcome could have been so much better. As usual thank you to all the contributors to this community for all your input. It’s much appreciated by lurkers.
Woo hoo, action on the nest!
Tuesday 23 July 2024
A dreich start to the day, with overnight rain. Low dark clouds still move gently across the sky, with low wind speed from the NE. A lack of nest action is allowing the grass to grown in the cup already.
08.17 Unringed osprey landed with a friendly chirrup or two. It looks like Brodie has returned. Two dots on his head. He looks around. I'm pretty sure it's Brodie. Looking for Asha, or keeping a wary eye for Klive!
08.22 He continues to look around the nest, while standing on the top left – nest cam – looking towards the old nest/PTZ/dead tree.
08.48 Brodie is still standing and looking around casually.
08.57 Oh!! Brodie pooped on the nest. A definite no, no!! But he did chirrup before flying off
09.43 Brodie returns with an enthusiastic chirrup, and a look around.
After a good check around the nest he flies up to the nest perch for a better view.
09.46.06 PTZ zooms in, just before Brodie flew off.
10.24 A quick zoom check of regular perches. Nothing seen
11.20 All quiet since then
It's brightening up, but still no action.
