(I am starting a new thread for April because, for sad personal reasons, Korky cannot be with us until further notice so the March title cannot be edited.)
Please read Korky's comprehensive March 2024 intro.
Asha and Brodie
Last year they arrived on 04 and 14 April respectively.
The end of the 2023 season was marred by the aggressive intrusion of BlueKL5 "Klive" (thank you, Fergus). We have no idea if the 2 youngsters were fit to migrate.
We haven't heard anything from HQ but it appears that the cams are not quite ready, despite snaps being posted to Facebook 10 days ago together with a query about the lack of IR for the third year in a row - and the streaming is unsteady and unreliable. When LG issued a warning about a delay to the opening of the season, it seemed to refer only to the Visitor Centre.
The PTZ now
Quote RSPB YT Channel: When the Loch Garten Nature Centre opens on April 15th, this camera is controlled by the centre staff during work hours, so please be gracious if you find it staring at an empty tree! The birds react quicker than the staff are sometimes able.
IMAGICAT
scylla said:07:08 an intruder flew around/over, only seen distantly on nestcam, not at all on PTZ:
I posted it on Chat as well but nobody took any notice of me there either
Great news about the 3rd egg, they have been so good together his year
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
April 27 at 18:25 intruder tries to land on nest and it flapped off by Asha. Looks like it has a BTO ring on right leg. Maybe the same osprey as yesterday.
.
All I can say is, well you try working on 2 laptops with different keyboard sizes at the same time !!! And not realising certain things therefore losing stuff. Mayhem!
Egg #3 and a FLOUNDER
I haven't found any good views of the eggs but if anyone wants to give me a time I'll find it and try to do a better snap.
Thank you for the closeup of the eggs!
scylla May I post this photo and your photo of the first egg on the "Loch Garten and Other Ospreys" Facebook site? I would tag your name to it. Would be nice to have this recorded in both places. No offense taken if you say no.
Sorry scylla I have too many things on the go and totally missed your earlier reference.

You are too kind and I should be (and am, which I knew I would be when I weakened) ashamed of myself for bringing it up. I'd been so adult for so long, it couldn't last
Can't get a definitive pic of the intruder's ankles:
Thanks for trying to get a closeup. I looked on my larger TV screen and there doesn't appear to be any ring on the right leg. I must have been seeing things !!
scylla either a BTO ring or a Scandinavian one. Would like to see more of the ring of the intruder to be sure, but probably IMHO BTO
