It was a very welcomed surprise to see NC0 arrive back from her wintering grounds on the 8th March, her earliest return to date! NC0 kept herself occupied while alone - catching some impressive-sized fish to eat as well as preparing the nest in readiness for future eggs. To note, her severely split blue darvic ring (as seen last season) is missing and she now only wears a BTO ring on her right leg.
It was a nail-biting time for us waiting to see if dear Laddie would make an appearance too and, little did we know, that it would be a further 19 days before he made his ‘grand entrance’ on the 27th, being ‘escorted’ to the nest by a flock of very vocal gulls!
Having settled into their usual routines on the nest and around the reserve, we now look forward to watching this season’s events unfold.

Third osprey egg of the season at Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve
Laddie remained on incubation duty until NC0 took over at 13:40 (she had spent 15 minutes on the perch prior to this)
14:32 NC0 at present. She has been calling on occasion
15:49 NC0 chipping - Intruder flew over the nest - twice! Blue ring, right leg
Pics taken at 0.25 speed - it was flying over extremely quickly!
NC0 continued to chip
NC0 was on full alert. The intruder's shadow could be seen on the trees behind the nest before it made its approach again
NC0 settled back down to incubate
NC0 has appeared relaxed while incubating since the intruder incidents, giving the eggs a roll every now and again
17:28
Laddie has not been back on the nest, as far as I can tell, after he flew off at 13:40

I was going to say that this would be my last timelined video because I've had to replace it with the Barn Owl, who's just started laying her probable clutch of 6...
However, when I went to get up the clip it turned out that the cam had been buffering on there so it's unusable.
Hence, from the download, untimed - and it's not even equal to your snaps, Sandra, with oujt-of-sync sound, too, hey-ho:
Laddie with a super, headless fish for NC0 at 19:57
Egg #3 can still be clearly distinguished from the other two - the red splodges are still quite bright
Laddie cleaned his beak after settling down on the eggs
NC0 did not come into view either around, or on, the birch after flying off with her supper
