2023 return dates: NC0(16) - 17.3.23 (07:43) Laddie (LM12) - 17.3.23 (13:43)
Well, what an end the 2023 season turned out to be! Who can forget the battle for the nest between both juveniles, PF4(F) & PF5(M), and then to see the total domination and aggression by the eldest when 'owning' the nest, not only to her sibling but also to dear Laddie when he provided her with fish. The season synopsis can be read in the final LotL Osprey Diary here. Did NC0 leave early to undertake her southerly migration on the 15th July, or could there have been another reason for her not to be seen on the webcam or around the reserve?
We wait in anticipation for Laddie and NC0's safe return to Loch of the Lowes. Let us very much hope for a 'fraught-free' 2024 season...

Could this be a Short-Eared Owl? Looks bigger than a Tawny, in my inexpert opinion. But that does sound like a Tawny calling near the nest.
Edit - no, not a SEO, it is a Tawny Owl as confirmed by others who know better than me.
But that is a dog barking in the distance.
Earlier - sample of cam zooming on NC0:
The Tawny Owl's visit - it stayed around longer than we could see, NC0 wasn't able to settle down for hours!
IMAGICAT
I didn't see your video, GEEMEFF, possibly because I had the RF open between posting NC0's daytime zoom vid and the Tawny intrusion.
And then, just after 03:00, the Tawny was back but we only saw the top of its head - and we'll have to wait to find out if NC0 damaged herself in her fury! (I didn't cut any of the silent time, so that you'd know exactly how delayed the scrambling sound was.)
Oh what a relief !!! Here's NC0 looking fine. I'm packing up wearily so will leave snaps in SANDRA's very capable hands
3am Loch of the Lowes: The Tawny Owl returns, NC0 spots it immediately and there’s a huge fight off-camera, some distress calls, then silence until NC0 returns around 05.45.
She seems unhurt.
That was very worrying, all that loud crashing off camera followed by distress calls - a great relief to see NC0 fly back 2.45 hours later, she seems unhurt.
I think the distress calls were from the owl.
I did a quick video on my iphone.
21st March
Morning All,
Geemeff and Scylla, thank you so much for all the super overnight videos! IMO, the Tawny flew off to the left very quickly (out of harm's way) and the sound was NC0 clattering around within the nest tree branches.
Our lovely girl looked fine in daylight! Some pics of her, holding tight on the nest in the very strong wind, prior to her heading off at 7:16
Flying well

Cam has just gone down. I've checked the channel, it's definitely down.
