This thread is for Osprey nests that don't warrant a thread of their own, and for other raptor nests of interest, in an effort to keep Osprey threads to a minimum for the sake of other Community members.

From KORKY's introductory post for the 23-24 SWFL season:
"This is the first season with M15 & new mate F23. F23 was first documented in the area Summer 2023 before officially bonding with M in October 2023. The original adult bald eagle pair, known as Ozzie and Harriet, had been coming to this nest since 2006. After Ozzie’s passing in the early fall of 2015, Harriet & M15 bonded in late fall of 2015. After eighth seasons as a mated pair, Harriet never returned to the nest in Feb. 2023 and M successfully raised their young E21 & E22 to fledge.' F23 has just laid her first egg dickpritchettrealestate.com/.../

F23 has 2 eggs and one appears to be about to hatch!... So I'm starting the new thread a couple of days early. I don't know who is currently incubating.

Thanks for sharing, Glider. Just goes to show how much the weather plays a part to aid a successful season. Pleased though, that Both Augusta and Samson are fine - such a sad situation there
Oh dear, the sad news continues. Some chicks have been lost at Kielder, again due to the poor weather.

Oh you are so norty at this time of my life, when I'm so slowed-down and disorganised! Plymouth is dear to me from the dim distant past.
Look what I found at Warleigh Barton (slide show) - even EJ would be tested!
BTW, they say they've got cams on the nests and EGs have bred! Shall we write and ask them to stream for us so we can pioneer a south-west Osprey couple?
(If I'm coming across a bit loony, it's because of the heat and my water's been cut off but phew! came back on this afternoon.)
Thanks for the link, WendyB, but you do need to brush up on your geography of the British Isles! The last time I was there Plymouth was on the South coast of England.
I claim pressure from the heatwave nellie, was 32° in my lounge today, boiled my brain cell ... phew!!

Good idea Scylla, I might be able to help out with some footage!

Sorry ... couldn't ignore the news even if I did put wrong location, which I shall now edit!

Joanna has also reported that sadly, 8 out of the 12 chicks on the 4 nests with cameras have died due to the prolonged cold, wet and windy weather in June. It is a worry.
Good news at Tweed Valley Ospreys.
