This thread is for Osprey nests that don't warrant a thread of their own, and for other raptor nests of interest, in an effort to keep Osprey threads to a minimum for the sake of other Community members.

Hancock Forum for very close coverage of the nest.
From KORKY's introductory post for the 23-24 SWFL season:
"This is the first season with M15 & new mate F23. F23 was first documented in the area Summer 2023 before officially bonding with M in October 2023. The original adult bald eagle pair, known as Ozzie and Harriet, had been coming to this nest since 2006. After Ozzie’s passing in the early fall of 2015, Harriet & M15 bonded in late fall of 2015. After eighth seasons as a mated pair, Harriet never returned to the nest in Feb. 2023 and M successfully raised their young E21 & E22 to fledge.' F23 has just laid her first egg dickpritchettrealestate.com/.../

F23 has 2 eggs and one appears to be about to hatch!... So I'm starting the new thread a couple of days early. I don't know who is currently incubating.

15 March
Spanish cliff Osprey
The day started well, with a headless fish and matings:
No whoppers yet, but she got given 2 more small offerings.

16 March
Breakfish for the second day running, male may be getting his act together. I've only seen small or partial fish so far.
And a partial 2-3 hours later (I'm not stopping to test my eyes on the timeline if it's not very clear):
16 March cont'd
Another fish 16:05:
In the evening +/- 20:00 she was mantling and slow-flapping to ward off an intruder, both from our end and the far end, but no amount of peering would show who/what it was.
17 March
08:00 Another day with breakfish provided, he's definitely getting the idea. Not a whopper again.
Hmmm...
There were several successful matings thru the day and another fish late afternoon.
Maybe eggs soon here!

22 March: Threave news. Kate thinks it is the resident male.
Threave Osprey Project
From the Threave Osprey and Peregrine (TOP) Watchers FB page. It is public, but does have 'members'.
Osprey on the nest this afternoon. Grabbed the pictures and dashed up to the car park as another heavy shower came through.

Black 80(06), Sheila?
Not confirmed yet Sandra, but yes, IF it is the resident male, it would be Black 80(06)m, hatched Glaslyn - Mrs G & Orange 11(98). Best keep an eye on their FB page.
Thank you, Sheila.
Threave Castle - update
Duncan, a long-term volunteer at Threave posted this morning, and it looks as though they are convinced it is Black 80. Brilliant news. I do get so concerned when anticipating the return of old stagers!
