HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

We are experiencing peak bird migration right now here in the Midwest. Last night, 6,632,500 migrating birds were confirmed over the state of Indiana. 4,761,000 birds crossed over the entire state. We've all been warned to turn our lights out so that we don't disturb the birds.

It's too dark here on my patch and the trees are too dense and tall to see them, but I hear them at times, especially if there's geese. The mosquitoes and biting gnats will eat me alive if I go outdoors at night. (LOL)

Hugs to all.

  • Had a bit of trouble getting on here this evening (first of the month gremlins?). Anyway, had a lovely relaxing couple of days and just finished watching The Red Violin, a wonderful movie from 1998 with a haunting theme that was written for the movie by John Corigliano and played (in all its iterations by various actors) by Joshua Bell. An unusual film. Not sure I agreed with the ending though.
  • AQ: Just read that one person on a whale watching cruise was killed when the whale breached and hit the boat.. Apparently lots of whales in that area (Sydney) this year.... That happened off our coast some years back....
  • ANNETTE - Our whale visitors have been increasing. One was seen off our Adelaide beaches a week or two ago.

Mid pm - Max temp 31 C, humidity 10%. Cool change tomorrow and max of 21 C. Cor blimey, it will seem like winter.

  • Annette ....we will have that ,to kook forward tomorrow, as we still last day of Month Doh!!!!

AQ. Phew 31C too warm for me, so hope tomorrow will indeed be more comfortable.

  • Annette - glad you have been able to have some relaxing days.
What awful news about the person who was killed whilst whale watching in Australia.
It’s not very nice weather here. Cold and wet. I went for my flu jab this morning. The doctor asked my age. When I told him, he gave me a special jab for “oldies” !!!!!! He had 2 trays of injections. Obviously we get a stronger one.
I have been watching the golf this afternoon. USA are staging a bit of a comeback.

  • Rusty..
.Golf....I always say to hubby, U S A always make a come back on the Third day, so this is a bit early, could make for bit more excitement tomorrow CHOL:):)

  • We are sitting watching the Golf highlights. Much as he loves sport, my OH won't pay extra for Sky Sports coverage. I offered to pay for it for his birthday present, but he said No.

I see that I stopped abruptly yesterday whilst posting a quote, but can't remember why.  We have been pleased to hear of a birth -- a baby boy to a couple who are relatives of relatives, and it is a much longed for child. Excited grandparents too, no doubt.

Sad to hear that someone lost their life while whale watching.

Sue took a couple of people to have their covid and flu jabs, and one of them has been quite ill since. Not sure which jab caused the problem. The person is 78.

We've had rain today but not all day. Quite amusing to see the variety of clothing worn by shoppers as I did my weekly shop today -- plenty of people still wearing shorts, but one or two in winter woolly hats!!!

  • They were not whale watching. They were on an early morning fishing trip. Too dark to see anything. Sad nevertheless
  • Sad, yes.

I have been reading of people's rage at the felling of the special tree. I see that an older man is now being questioned -- the tree was brought down by a powered tool, very neatly. The young person questioned may have only been a helper.

On one forum, I wrote of my preferred punishment for the perpetrator -- to plant a new wood of 50 trees there, digging the holes with only a small trowel. And with a time limit.
