Link to July 2023 thread
July proved to be a less nail-biting month than June. Brodie re-appeared early on the 1st and delivered fish (including flounder) to the nest every day bar 1 thereafter, with a record count of 7 on the 21st. Asha also fished and delivered a salmon on the 3rd, as well as quite a few sticks, not least one to replace the sticky-up stick on the nest that got removed on ringing day - 12th July. We have 2 boys, as only 7% of those surveyed had predicted. 2C5 (oldest) became Sid (Vicious) and 2C4 (youngest) is Harry (Nilsson). We had some cracking snaps particularly from the PTZ camera, a 2am fish, self-feeding started, and wing-flapping and helicoptering. Bets are on for a fledge or two very early in August. Sid is 58 days and Harry 56 days on the 1st of August

Not any more - just this guy, who I assume is KL5. Need to check back!
18:46:27 is the start. oh boy another big fight. Started with 2C4 mixing up his brother for KL5. They tussled and fell of the nest. Then KL5 showed up and dive bombed the nest repeatedly. Going after 2C5. Knocked him off nest. Can see KL5 ID at 18:54:32
At 18:54:50 KL5 knocks 2C5 off the nest.
KL5 is on the nest now.
Can see part of the fight (the flyovers from KL5) on PTZ as well. The entire sequence is on the main cam.
Oh boy, it never rains but it pours. I found that the nestcam had dropped out, probably because of buffering, but at least it seemed to be OK for the crucial period you specified...
Bt then I got a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) so lost lots of gubbins.
I see that someone's been doing overtime this evening, and they just panned onto... who? Hang on...

I'm going to commandeer the Clywedog laptop and record the LG dramas from rollback - which will obviously take a while.
Oh my goodness, will it ever stop. Those poor juvies. Thank you so much for alerting us, Canuk. I would have missed it all otherwise. I have just seen through the 20.00 attack. KL5 was indeed brutal. When the ptz was searching the greenery below the nest, 19.30 KL5 seemed as tho he was king of all he surveyed as he stood on the nest. at 19.32 he jumped to the outer side of the nest, down the side and was clearly looking for 2C4 down in the tree below the nest.. He found nothing, and climbed back to the nest. Did he know 2C4 was down there. He flew off shortly after getting back on the nest. 20.03 a juvie called, more a contact call, and 2C4 landed. He appeared uninjured. 20.08 he flew, giving a brief call 2034 he returned, being chased by presumably KL5 who kept dive bombing the poor lad. Harry fought back. Harry took off, followed by KL5. There was a bump as the nest cam. I saw only one osprey in the skyline after that. 21.07 someone, possibly Harry or Sid as there was a brief call, landed on the dead tree. Edit - just seen Scylla's pic on the other page, so it was probably KL5 himself. 21.38 it took off. Oh what a day. I don't like to say it, but I think it is time that the boys moved on. Hopefully Asha will sort out this intruder next year. I am sure he will be back, and if he comes before Brody, there could be an interesting start to 2023. I really don't like watching this. I know it's nature in the raw, but it make for uncomfortable viewing!! I won't be going anywhere though!! I keep mentioning that bloomin' egg, but it's still there. It was a useful gauge though. I noticed it had moved from the very side of the nest to nearer the middle, otherwise I would have missed another fracas!!
