Aww, so pleased that #3 fledged today, Glider, hopefully he'll continue to perfect his landing!
No more fish after that one.
#2 and #3 sleeping together on the nest again tonight.
Friday 21 July
All three chicks have been on and off the nest calling for fish this morning
05.08
06.42
07.12
08.15 #3 home alone again
He too then leaves, his take off has improved a lot since yesterday!
The first fish delivery I can find was at 12.15. A flounder from Harry.
It looked like #3 was sitting on the nest wth #2 standing preening at the edge.#3 saw Harray incoming first and got up calling. #2 then joined in. When Harry landed, #2 was in front of #3 thus being in a better position to take the fish.
#3 (left) was blocked by Harry and #2’s wing and couldn’t reach the fish.
#1 then flew in at speed
But too late. #2 was already mantling over the fish.
#2 (left) still eating. 14.02
Saturday 22 July
I thought #3 has slept alone on the nest last night, then another wee head peeped out!
04.46 #1 joined them
09.31 Harry came to the nest with a large fish - salmon perhaps? #3 was alone at the time so claimed it.
09.32 Soon, he had company
Tricky to see who it is as they never fully turned around. Thinking #1 though.
#3 protected his fish.
09.41 Then #2 arrived as well. She made a grab for the fish straight away
but #3 held on.
10.34 #3 still munching away
10.54 #1 makes a steal from behind
#3 doesn’t put up much of a struggle to keep it. He’s been eating for over an hour.
#2 (right) unsuccessfully tries to take the fish from #1
#1 ate until 11.38 then decided to fly off with the fish
11.56. #1 brings the fish back and #2 dives it to collect it.
It’s a bit of a struggle as #1 hasn’t released their grip yet
Eventually, #1 has let go of the fish.
#2 mantles to protect her meal
12.02 #2 enjoying her first feed of the day
It’s good that this fish has been shared by all three.
#2 still eating, #3 flew off earlier, #1 receives a fish from Flora
Two happy young ospreys
12.53 Harry flies in with a flatfish.
#3 can be heard calling off nest.
#1 had just finished Flora’s fish and took this one too.
#3 arrived but too late
13.33. #3 stands waiting as it’s two siblings are tucking into fish
13.42 #1 leaves with the fish. #3 calls
#3 leaves
#2 is still gobbling down the remains of the 09.31 fish
15.52 Harry flies in with another flatfish
#3 is closest to him and takes the fish
This was the last fish of the day.
