Egg No. 2 laid 23 April - Hatched 29 May (36 days)
Egg No. 3 laid 26 April - Hatched 1 June (37 days) Sadly, this little chick died on 3rd June. It coincided with LJ2 having a leg injury and unable to fish at the time. I don’t know if this was the sole reason, part of the reason or something else. RIP little one
The family of 5 for a couple of days. Bob 3, RIP, in between #1 and #2
Four weeks later, our two thriving youngsters, #1 and #2 (36 and 34 days as at 01/07/23)
All captures and videos ©️ NWWT, Welsh Water, Brenig Osprey Project
Brenig FB reported intruder ospreys today. They said it was a male and female couple. Wonder if they were the same two as yesterday? Ring numbers couldn’t be read.

Tuesday 4 July
Good morning 04.15 With a stretch first, LM6 left early for a visit to the preening perch.
A quick scratch to a couple of itchy bitsthen just enjoying the peaceful break away from the nest, LM6 perched quite still.
LJ2 left the nest perch at 04.26
LM6 arrived a couple of minutes later with a long stick.
It landed on the chicks a couple of times as LM6 shifted it.LM6 finally gets the stick into position.
05.13 It seems a calmer morning, perhaps the chicks will get ringed today.
One chick stands up (#1 I think) and tries to scratch its head but hasn’t quite mastered the balance yet!
Some wing flapping practice
LM6 flies off
A couple of minutes later, LM6 returns with some bedding
which she places at the side of the nest.
09.00 LM6 and the chicks were resting when LJ2 arrived with a large headless fish
09.42 still feeding. The wind sounds like it’s picking up - quite noisy on the audio.
Group photo. From left LJ2, #1 chick, #2 chick, LM6 Around 11.20
Midday. Just chillin’ LJ2 on perch, LM6 nest, chicks resting.
LJ2 leaves shortly after 13.00
13.33 LJ2 had returned and the whole family have a simultaneous preening session.
My, doesn’t LM6’s head look small!
Haha, I think it belongs to #2 chick!
