Laddie had a record breaking fish day on the 15th June, when he brought ELEVEN of them to the nest for NC0 and the chicks to dine on - amazing!
As the two chicks grew, it was clearly obvious - with the difference in size - that #1 was a female and #2 a male, this being confirmed at their ringing on the 22nd June.
NC0 began fishing for the first time this season on the 30th June, with TWO successful catches in one day. Hopefully, both she and Laddie will continue to bring plenty of fish for their growing youngsters to enjoy in a now, harmonious manner.

Young Osprey Flies For The First Time
A small fish delivery from NC0 at 15:03
NC0 was still feeding PF5 when, 3 minutes after she landed with her fish, she began to fish call. The 'bird' on the birch took flight and headed towards the nest...
Laddie landed with a fish
Quickly followed by the 'bird' that had been on the birch - PF4
NC0 continued to feed PF5 from her own one
Laddie moved forward with his catch still in his talons
He released his grip of the fish and flew off
She continued to feed both PF4 and PF5
When the feed was over, PF5 turned and spied Laddie's discarded fish
He began to self feed, PF4 was waiting
Some feistiness shown by PF5 as he flapped his wing at PF4 after an attempted steal
That didn't deter her though and went straight back to claim the fish
She took her meal to eat at the back of the nest. NC0, meanwhile, had taken herself off to the birch
PF4 had devoured the fish by 15:43

Laddie with another fish at 16:25 - claimed by PF5
PF5 tucking in
He was still eating at 17:02
Then walked away from the small remainder the fish that was left over at 17:05
17:15 NC0 arrived with a small fish
At present, 17:18, NC0 feeding PF5 (on her left), PF4 tucking in to the discarded fish
Plenty of fish coming into the nest so both chicks well fed. I am so glad that there were only 2 chicks in the end, I feel that if a third had hatched we wouldn't have seen all 3 raised to this point.
Richard B
I agree with you there, Richard, I don't think PF5 would be around now, to be honest, especially as fish deliveries were quite sparse for a time when these two hatched.
19:32 The next fish arrived, courtesy of Laddie
NC0 and PF4 both went to take it
PF4 grabbed it, the fish was still in Laddie's grip
Success for PF4
NC0 wasn't best pleased!
19:55 PF4 still enjoying her meal. NC0 on the birch
20:06 PF5 is such a handsome boy!
Edit: 20:09 NC0 began to fish call then flew off from the birch, heading behind it
20:10 Plenty of wingercising from PF5. PF4 swallowed the fish tail. It's raining
21:00 A small fish from NC0
PF5 was fed initially
Then PF4 came onto the nest from the perch to join in. Being fed here while PF5 was eating a chunk that had been given
That meal lasted less than 4 minutes
22:32 What an awful, wet and windy evening
