Two healthy chicks hatched successfully from eggs two and three. The first egg laid was non-viable and, hopefully, it will be able to be retrieved from the nest, at the time of ringing, as to ascertain the reason why.
During the middle of May, Laddie sustained an injury to his flank and NC0 was without a meal for 87 hours due to him not being able to hunt. It was pure relief when he finally arrived with a fish, at a critical time too as the first chick had just hatched. Laddie excelled himself on the evening of the 25th, bringing in an absolute whopper of a fish which fed both chicks and adults multiple times throughout the evening, during the night and well into the next morning.
The end of the month saw some 'difficult' behaviour from #1 on its younger sibling, not only restricted to mealtimes either. With longer gaps, on occasion, between fish being brought to the nest by Laddie (probably due to his defence of the nest and area from intruders, of which there had been many last month), #2 has been the subject of dominance and aggression. We can only hope this begins to lessen in the coming days and weeks.
NC0 has been doing a sterling job with feeding both chicks ensuring, as much as possible, that the youngest receives its fair share as well. She has also shown great maturity when defending the chicks and nest from intruders too - she is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

Richard B
It has got a beautiful call, Richard, hope it shows itself at some point!
I can only find two further fish deliveries since this morning:
Fish #3 was at 10:32
Fish #4 was delivered at 13:22 - NC0 had been on alert a little while before Laddie arrived with this one (she had been in defensive mode a couple of times this morning as well)
He chipped on landing
More chipping from Laddie before he flew off from the nest

19:29 NC0 was very vocal, anticipating a fish to be delivered
Instead, at 19:30, Laddie flew from right to left over the Loch towards the birch, landing behind the area marked
NC0 returned from a comfort break and after almost two minutes, noticed some remnants of dropped fish from a previous feed
#2 had been fish begging and approached her at 20:17. She fed it about 7-8 small morsels at this point
#1 was interested in what was occurring and turned round to join #2
Any little scrap she could find, NC0 gave to #2, she was even looking for bits within the front edge sticks
21:00 NC0 flew off and landed on her diving branch of the birch. She's still there at present, 21:05
I wonder where Laddie is?
A very-welcomed fish from Laddie at 21:31. NC0 had been back from the birch and was off the nest again as Laddie approached, NC0 could be heard screeching before coming back in time to receive the delivery!
Laddie's flight away took him over the Loch, heading right
#2 was on NC0's left initially, she gave it a little taster
NC0 then altered her position slightly, #2 moved close to NC0'S right as #1 received some fish
Dual feeding. #1 did receive more bites than #2
NC0 was calling for more fish at 21:41
No aggression was shown by #1 even though there had been many hours since the last fish delivery!
21:45
22:02 There was the sound of deer calls close by (Edit: I turned my sound up, it may have been geese! lol)
Morning All,
Waiting for the first fish of the day to arrive
