Asha is the proud parent of 3 eggs, the father of which being dubious but probably URM - now called Brodie - as we hardly saw NN2 (for whom we wish all the best elsewhere) be accepted by Asha. Brodie had a lot of trouble fending off intruders which has made him a bit flaky in the fish catching and delivery department. Poor old Asha didn't eat for over 2 days last week. The main intruder was KL5, who seems to have stopped hanging around so much now, which is good as we approach hatch date and the need for fish will ramp up.

Given their recent past, I agree Wendy. Their last meal arrived at 21.11hrs, 28 June, nearly 28 hours ago. Nothing yesterday, 29 June. Last sighting of Brodie, Thursday 29 June at 09.10hrs
Brodie was seen at 10.00 yesterday, when an/some intruders were around.
How long will the chicks survive? I don't really know the answer to that. We need Tiger! But I would hazard a guess 72 plus hours. They have been well fed recently, and it's not as hot as it was. Adults have to fly across the Sahara desert so can easily go without for that period.
It isn't raining now and clouds are higher, but there is still no sign of Brodie.. The chick are chuntering every now and again. Asha is keeping a sharp look all around. 10.50 she took off - 10.18.54 she returned with a piece of bark. Chicks chuntering - what's a better word?! 10.19.32 she suddenly looked very alert, looking in one direction, and then around, but it came to nothing. 10.22. She had a shake of the feathers. Did she take a dip in her absence? 10.22.52 She started to call. Intruder alert over the nest, mantling, chicks came closer to her. Is soon passed. She has barely moved since then, standing on the far side of the nest here the base of the perch.

I've only got the PTZ screen-capture due to the downloader having hit another crashing phase. VLC won't work any more. I'm scrabbling around testing this 'n that software and various types of URLs, getting nowhere, hence this post has been sitting here... I've opened the thread in another tab and see that CC has popped in confirming the unfortunate situation and that Freebird has asked a question which I cannot answer accurately and cannot contemplate anyway

I have a vague memory that EJ once fished for herself when she was sitting on eggs and the male failed to return/deliver (maybe George? Or Odin when he went missing?). I have no memory of a nest when the female went fishing when there were small chicks on the nest vulnerable to predation but I'm happy to bow to anyone with a better memory
