Asha is the proud parent of 3 eggs, the father of which being dubious but probably URM - now called Brodie - as we hardly saw NN2 (for whom we wish all the best elsewhere) be accepted by Asha. Brodie had a lot of trouble fending off intruders which has made him a bit flaky in the fish catching and delivery department. Poor old Asha didn't eat for over 2 days last week. The main intruder was KL5, who seems to have stopped hanging around so much now, which is good as we approach hatch date and the need for fish will ramp up.

    Evening one and all, 3 fish today, not big but fish all the same. Maybe it's the case that it is too sunny and the fish are lower down, making it harder to catch them. All doing well, with more furniture manoeuvres from Asha!

    Unfortunately with the current set up, I have to use pdf docs, hopefully this will change over the winter months, when I have more time to set things up. The use of bands is purely my choice as I prefer it when it comes to the past tense.

    Headless not-whopper - Brodie stayed a little while, then watched from a tree - which we can see cos they didn't zoom in too close last night Blush

    Morning Scylla and gemgem.jk. Brodie was up early today. How lovely to see him on the tree below the nest, even if Asha doesn't want him on the nest. Last year it was the same for Axel/AX6, possibly to encourage him to go fishing again - he was somewhat lax. Brodie is far better. I think Brodie's absences have been him keeping intruders away from his territory rather than a lack of fishing prowess.

    I just finished checking that time because I could see Brodie in the distance and Asha appeared to be feeding the chicks - but this was the view mysteriously chosen by the PTZ camperson!  That wing was all we saw of the delivery:

    Talking of intruders... !!!  PTZ is focused on an unknown, unringed Osprey preening on a branch.  Snaps to follow.

    11.02 still watching

    11.02 Brodie flew to the dead tree, for a higher perch

    11.22 Asha's fish soliciting turned into Intruder Scream as an osprey flew over the nest.

    11.22.35  and another fly over.  Intruder over Asha

    11.22.56  Intruder over Asha

    11.23 Asha continued intruder calling.  By this time I think Brodie was 'escorting' it away.

    11.24  Calm   Although an osprey could be seen flying over the nest, I am not sure whether it was the intruder, or Brodie before he left.
