EDITEDI thought we should have a new thread to record the development of the two chicks who hatched successfully at Clywedog this year. UPDATE. One of the chicks was killed in an attempted goshawk predation on 18 July 2023.
The introduction to the nest and happenings between March and June 2023 on this Thread©
5F Seren, the female who has been here since 2020, returned from migration on 25 March 2023. The unringed Dylan, the male since 2016, returmed two days later. Eggs were laid on 13 April, 16 April and 19 April. The first egg hatched on 20 May, and the second egg 2 days after that. The third egg has not hatched and will not do so now.
A highlight was the visit on 12 May from 496, the only chick which fledged from this nest in 2021.
Carnyx Wild provide video streams; the current stream is available here. The link to the feed changes every 12 hours. There should be 2 cameras, but one has not been streamed so far this season due to condensation in the lens; it is hoped this may be changed when the chicks are ringed.
Other links to the Facebook page and John Williams blog are on the introduction to the first thread above.
Grateful thanks to those who are gifted enough to record images and videos from this lovely, mainly tranquil, scene.
UPDATE This thread will be used to record updates on this nest and the Llyn Clywedog area before the start of the 2024 season.

Goodness gracious me, what a breakfish!
But something's going on, it's not being released and the deliverer is looking out from the back of the nest as if there's an intruder threatening...
And the fish got taken away !!! But here it was:
I can't even say who delivered, I had to get that from rollback cos my network's down and it's switchover time and I'm packing up anyway.
EDIT - 08:17 8B2 has given up waiting for the fish to come back, he's flown.
IMAGICAT
More on the breakfish:
IN
OUT
The breakfish returned - I couldn't see rings clearly but when the deliverer briefly looked our way I thought it was Seren's face - and Dylan had been in nestorising, fishless of course, pre-08:30.
11:56 8B2 flew off with it, not much headway having been made.
17:16 he was back for a minute.
Flew in to defend, flattened and shouting, vs ??? flew off shouting after TEN minutes!
That was it for the rest of the evening.
A real whopper anyway - lucky boy

Seren is still here
Dylan with fish - 8B2 eventually left a lot of it on the nest!
So, all the family at Clywedog and Dyfi and Glaslyn are still with us - I don't know about Pool - does anyone ?
Anyway, I consider that cheering news . Thank you for the Seren news Scylla and the captures

I've been downloading the streams and then deleting them due to overloading! So I don't know.

Two fish today, and I haven't seen Seren - but I have had significant gaps in the service!

8B2 collected his leftover fish:
I've seen no adults so far today, but 08:41 to 10:00 is missing (the switchover was late!):
Looks like there might have been some activity during that period, one or two sticks moved a bit - maybe only one stick, which could have been wind-shifted!
What was thought to be a large spider turned out to be an Osprey:
It flew off, returned @ 17:01 (I'm thinking it was the same bird, ie 8B2) and a few more times before Dylan brought a FISH @ 19:01, which 8B2 flew off with - just for the record ;)
.
EDIT - Gosh! Switchover didn't occur until 21:20 tonight - but at least I'm on it
I reckon 8B2 was lucky to find his fish still on the nest ! Corvids everywhere would be eagle eyed overflying an Osprey nest
Thanks Scylla

Someone arrived on the perch, can't tell who - they're still there now:
I probably won't be around at switchover time.
