20.32 Flora having a wee snooze.
It’s a calm evening for Flora. She was calling occasionally.
A beautiful ethereal morning
The mist cleared
and it became a fine day.
11.35 Headless flounder delivery.
11 seconds from delivery to take off. I think I’ve seen Flora do even quicker!
Second fish of the day for Flora and it’s a live one.
SEVEN seconds from delivery to take off!!! Wow
Flora returned to the nest 14 minutes later carrying something. Unsure if it’s a piece of bark or the fish?
She then walks it over the nest
She drops it in this area where she is standing.
Flora’s had a good day - 2 lovely fish deliveries.
13.20 the first fish arrived, very much alive, looks like a brown trout.
Flora returned 25 minutes later - can she have eaten it all in that time? She was carrying a stick on return.
The 2nd fish came at 19.07, Harry had eaten some first.
19.43 Flora lands on the perch after her feed. Harry has provided well today.
Saturday 13 May
Early changeover at the nest
Flora was exercising her vocal chords asking for breakfast. None forthcoming.
There have been quite a few changeovers so far
Flora shifting a stick to encourage Harry to get up.
Just a disappointing wee stick delivery this time.
Harry’s not away fishing yet!
09.45 onwards Flora shouting and Harry alarm calling on the nest. 2 dogs were running in the field behind. (Black splodges magnified top left and bottom) Shows how acute the ospreys’ senses are.
10.50 Harry flies onto the nest. He begins alarm calling again.
After a few minutes, Harry flies off. I couldn’t see anything around.
12.40 Harry flies back to the nest.
He soon begins alarm calling again. There must be an intruder in the area I would think.
15.14 Flora starts fish calling and gets up off the eggs to receive it.
Harry doesn’t come to the nest so Flora goes back to sit down again but instead, moves to the other side of the nest to receive the fish.
Harry still doesn’t come so Flora actually sits back on the eggs this time. She calls to remind Harry she is still waiting.
17 minutes later, Flora gets up again and Harry arrives with a good sized headless brown trout.
Into the talons and off she goes.
