  • 22.43 and the wanderer has returned as seen on the perch. LM6 will be looking for an early fish tomorrow.

  • Monday 22nd May

Good morning Grinning Last night LJ2 left the perch after half an hour or so but returned there later and stayed most of the night. He left around 04.00. LM6 was still on the eggs just after 04.30 when day cam came on.

07.10 LM6 is still on the nest. It’s the first time I’ve not seen LJ2 in early to changeover. Fingers crossed he’s fishing.

  • I’m out for the rest of the day. Catch up later. Blush
  • Just after 10.00 LM6 still on the nest. She is lying low, she starts looking upward and does a few chips.

It comes to nothing so she settles down again

11.27 LM6 gets up for a wing stretch and a quick preen.

    11.50 LM6 takes a quick comfort break.

14.06 LM6 gets up for another wee stretch and a preen. It is eerily quiet here today. Can’t even hear the crows. Where is LJ2?

18.00 LM6 still waiting quietly on the nest for her partner.

  • 06.26 This was the only bird on the preening perch today.

  • 15.30 the PTZ camera had a look around, presumably for LJ2

  • 18.30 LJ2 flies to the nest chipping and flapping. LM6 lies low. LJ2 takes off again within seconds to give chase to an intruder.

19.01 LJ2 returns to the nest again.

LM6 is shouting at him for fish. He leaves after a minute.

  • Night time falls and LJ2 hasn’t come back to the nest.

Then around 22.36 he flies past. Once LM6 is aware of this, she lifts her head and starts fish calling.

A few moments later he lands on the perch. Is he carrying a fish? LM6 is calling and calling to him.

LJ2 doesn’t come to the nest and LM6 doesn’t get up. Her calls become intermittent then eventually stop and she tucks her head in for the night. LJ2 looks like he is sleeping too. (23.40)

Magnified, it does look like a fish. Surely LM6 will have an early breakfast.

  • Tuesday 23rd May 2023

Good morning Grinning At last, LM6 got a feed after 2 days.

LJ2 stayed on the perch overnight but left with the fish just before day cam came on at 04.37. LM6 was calling loudly.

I guess he was hungry too and needed a feed before he passed it over at 05.47.

LM6 dragged it to the other side of the nest and had a good look before leaving with her meal.

     LJ2 started incubating.

06.42 LJ2 is still on the nest. LM6 hasn’t reached the preening perch yet but LJ2 was there briefly before flying back to the nest this morning.

Morning Glider and thanks for all these wonderful updates.

When is the first egg due to hatch here? Wouldn't think it is too far away??

Good morning Karen, you’re very welcome.   Today is day 31 and on Saturday the 27th, it’ll be day 37, so am looking around then for the first hatch. It seems like they’ve been sitting on the eggs forever!!

Thanks Glider also for all the updates.  And Good Morning btw Blush
