HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a joyful week. Sending love and healing to OG and EE.

I had thought that the Cardinals had chicks, but they don't yet. I think the male was just feeding his mate.

The neighbors' chickens were loose yesterday, and they visited my yard and laid eggs. I guess it was a belated Easter gift. Lol

Everyone here was busy covering their plants today. It's turning cold again, and we have a warning for heavy frost and maybe even light snow! We had a couple of hot days,  but we can't seem to settle into spring this year. It's predicted to stay chilly the rest of the month now.

Love to all.

  • Happy Birthday, AQ ! I know, about the commemorative nature of Anzac Day but have never heard of Anzac biscuits. Will Google them.
RUSTY - I have been across that aqueduct in a narrow boat. Impressive !
LINDY - I hope that the wee girl will soon be running around again x
  • Thank you BJANE, ANNETTE, DIANE & HEATHER.

Dau & Trio for afternoon tea. I was given a book, chocs & a card from each featuring their own drawing (cat, dog & cake). S-i-l dropped in on way between airport & work. Email from Dau#1.

HEATHER – Anzac biscuits were sent to Aussie troops in WWI food parcels. With no egg or milk, they kept well. Basically flour, oats, coconut, sugar, golden syrup, butter, carb soda & water. Golden syrup is a sort of light treacle.

  • Happy Belated Birthday AQ. I did write a post but it wouldn’t go. It just stuck there all pale. I wasn’t signed out. Bizarre. Sorry.
It sounds as if you had a lovely time.
I had a sudden violent headache last night (have no idea why) so went to bed. I feel a bit fragile this morning so am glad I hadn’t signed up for golf. I plan a quiet day with, hopefully, a bit of pottering in the garden.
My sis and b in l are at the top of Scotland now. They woke up to a huge sleet shower!!!!! They are going from Wick to Tongue today.
  • Happy Belated Birthday, AQ. Hope you had a really good day.

Rusty - Your sister and brother in law are in for a great day - that bit of the 'top' of Scotland is so beautiful. Hopefully the weather will at least be dry ... I have stayed in Tongue a couple of times - there are some lovely walks around there, and plenty of ruins from The Clearances. Particularly memorable for me was a walk up to Castle Varrich very early in the morning. Spectacular views, a sunny and warm day - and at the top I met a delightful couple of German tourists who offered me a cup of coffee, made 'on site' on their small Primus stove! We sat and chatted for a couple of hours, just enjoying the view and the company. My German is minimal, their English was far better.
  • Thank you RUSTY & PAT.

We have just finished our evening meal & the washing up – Chicken Kiev (from supermarket freezer), hash brown (ditto), broccoli & carrot. Normally we have more veggies but neither of us was hungry after a’tea, so it was veggies that got reduced! For dessert we had mini red velvet steamed pudding (from supermarket shelf). Alas the pudd was far too sweet for my taste. Never mind, the meal was easy to prepare. Now I am ready for an evening snooze while “watching” TV.

  • RUSTY- Take it easy. Nothing that can't be left until tomorrow.
  • You are correct Heather so, I have finally finished this 1000 piece epic. It has been on the go for ages lent to me by some “kind” friends. Enlarge to get the best effect.

  • Wow! That looks quite difficult, Rusty. Well done.

That sounds like a mini migraine to me. :-( Although I must admit, I've never had one.

AQ - Glad the family were pleased to visit bearing gifts. An easy meal sounds like the best option, if you are to be the cook!! Enjoy your rest.
  • Pat - Nice description of your walk. Language does not always make a barrier. We once gave a German couple a much needed lift in our car in a remote area and it was a pleasure to be of help- she looked all in, as they had underestimated the heat and the distance. We were able to take them almost right to their door where they were staying, and there was much gesticulating on their part and bad German on my part as we left!!
