HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a joyful, peaceful week! Happy holiday to all those who celebrate Sunday.

I may have baby Northern Cardinals in the nest on the side of my enclosed porch. The Cardinal pair have been back and forth to the nest constantly for the last couple of days. They usually have 2 broods in a season, so they start early.

I was also very happy to see that all my neighbors' chickens made it through the storms. The big red hen was glad to see me, too, and pecked my shoe.

Love to all.

  • Today I shall finish planting my bulbs, having been rained off by a shower which stopped as soon as I had packed up.

I collected my new reading glasses yesterday. Last night I decided it was just as good to read my book without them. This morn impossible to read newspaper. I shall wait until Monday to ring back otherwise they will claim I haven’t given them a fair trial.

However distance glasses are great. Now that I am driving again – I can go to church, shop or visit library when I want. Then there are those other things – drop off stuff to charity shop, deliver unwanted books to other charity shop, cash in the collection of 10 cent bottles & cans, shop for OH clothes (he won’t be happy whatever I buy), replace scrim curtains that have succumbed to sunshine, oh dear, the list gets longer and I really want (need?) to go gadding about with camera. And have coffee with friends (not at same time, so at least 4 coffee mornings).

Our state is planning to ban e-cigarettes in public places – hospitals, shops, schools, beaches, events, sports – and to impose stronger penalties for selling to under-age. Yet UpOver has decided to hand them out free. Can’t they learn from our mistake?

  • Just a thought

I may be wrong, but it’s highly unlikely.

Your ridiculous little opinion has been noted.

I’m a multi-tasker. I can listen, ignore and forget all at the same time.

  • AQ: We can't ban anything here: handguns, assault rifles, e-cigs; oh but wait - factions on the far right seem determined to ban women from making any decisions regarding their reproductive lives. So happy that you can drive again - yipee! Are the reading glasses progressive or...?
  • ANNETTE: Those factions have been very successful at banning library books. :-(

AQ: I am so very, very happy that you can drive again! You must feel so free. Congratulations. Hope you can get the glasses sorted.
  • LINDY: I hope you have a lovely journey and a wonderful time with your family.

RUSTY: I hope you feel better.

LYNETTE: Nice to see you. I was wondering about you. Glad you had a good Easter.

  • Good Morning. Rather grey here too, but at least the wind has died down after the stormy raging of last night. And it's dry: hooray!

I hope that Rusty is feeling better today, you do seem to be in the wars and I know how horrible hay fever can be especially when you have other health concerns. Not heard from OG lately so hope they are all alright.

AQ -- Great that the driving glasses are doing the trick. I read (& type) without glasses but everyone is different so don't know why I'm trying to compare. Enjoy your new found freedom!

Busy still tackling chores today and writing some letters which can't be put off.

Diane -- thanks for the good wishes for a safe journey, but you must be tired of writing that lately! Don't feel you have to keep up with my travels!
  • ps. My OH caught sight of a woodpecker on our seed feeder yesterday, so we still have our woodpecker family in the local woods!
  • Lindy - good news re the woodpecker. Nice to see. Thank you for your concern re my health. Not major things but annoying really. I think the tooth is a tiny bit better. It doesn’t hurt except when I press the gum!!!! The hay fever is just one of those things. I have had a regular opticians appointment today and have been told that my eyes are good “for my age!!” No need for replacement reading glasses but a slight change in the distance ones so they are having new lenses. I am wearing my old ones and the new lenses in the old frames (which I like) should be ready in 7 to 10 days.
I too have been thinking about OG and family and hoping they are managing.
Diane - I don’t like the sound of the “stuff” you are having stored near you. I think you are quite right about certain areas not being held “important” by government. Here in North Wales we often say it seems that the South (where the Senedd - Welsh Assembly - is) gets much better allocation of funds. It certainly always gets much more of a mention on the BBC Welsh News at 6.30 each evening. Thank you also for the concern about my health. In the grand scheme of things I just happen to have 2 annoying things at the moment, both of which will go eventually.
AQ - so pleased you are getting some of your independence back and that you are enjoying going out and about. I hope yo7 can get your reading glasses sorted.
  • Sorry everyone, I keep getting sidetracked. Anyway, am reading all your posts, thank you.
  • AQ: I say make the coffee mornings with your friends your immediate top priority. That's what's important in life.
