Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 2 April 2023

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a peaceful, safe, serene week!

  • Good Morning. Sunshine here again.Lots of small things to do. Working my way through the list....

AQ - At least you didn't need any dental treatment. You'd think they would have rung you and rebooked your appointment before you arrived.

We are off again- going to Wales for Easter as we have to open up our caravan for the summer. It will need airing and it will have to have the heating tested etc. I would have liked to leave it till later on but its a coincidence really that it's the Easter weekend.

Incidentally, the resident male Osprey returned to the Glaslyn nest yesterday and they are still waiting for the long term female who is now late. Do hope she's not perished although she is 20 years old.
  • Lindy - I hope you are ahead of the traffic and that you have a good time this weekend. I think that, apart from tomorrow when, of course, I am due to play golf, it is going to be quite nice.
I got the grass cut and it looks much tidier now.
  • Good Lord, where is everyone?

I just spent two hours trying to get my OH's desktop sorted - without any luck. We couldn't get it past a Stop Code on the dreaded blue screen and I couldn't try any of the suggested fixes because someone didn't know his Windows Password!!!!!  Argh...  Anyway, very expensive computer guy is coming in the morning.  We paid a small fortune a few months back  trying to get our new moden/router to talk to our printers via wifi (also with no luck), so am more than a little exasperated!

Hope Lindybird arrived at the caravan okay.  I see that bjane was in the path of bad weather tonight and Diane will be keeping  an eye out tomorrow morning.

    Take care all.

  • Food shopping with Dau. It was crowded, anyone would think the shops will be closed for a month over Easter! Before she went home, I had a phone call that my new glasses were ready. Dau volunteered to drive me. Distance (driving) glasses are fine. I can read signs outside shop. Yeay. But. . . the reading glasses not so good, With the seeing-eye, I could not read as well as in test. Also they put the same lens in non-seeing eye (why? I’m not using it and it should have plain glass). Dau took over and after a long discussion, they are sending glasses back to fit plain glass. BUT that is not the problem. They reckon 1) lighting is different or 2) I was tired} or 3) my eye has changed in 8 days. Another 7-10 days wait. Meanwhile it is wonderful to stand at kitchen sink and actually see the back garden, Tomorrow I shall go out for a drive.
  • Good Morning. Brilliant news that you'll once again be able to get out and about driving, AQ. How frustrating that the other glasses are not right. I was once given glasses with the two lenses reversed! Argh. Hope it can soon be put right for you.

Annette -- Sooo frustrating when you have techy problems like that. Hope the experts can help.

Sorry that maybe I should have said that we're travelling tomorrow - got to get my OHs golf done tomorrow morning first!

Hope it's not too wet today for you to play, Rusty.
  • AQ - as Lindy says, it’s brilliant that you can drive again, I hope you soon get your confidence and can get out and about much more easily. So annoying re the reading glasses. Why can’t they just get things right first time!!! Sadly, it seems quite common.
Annette - as you know, I can sympathise with you over people forgetting passwords (or having multiple ones!!!!) I hope the expensive man can sort all your problems out.
Lindy - I hope you have a good trip to Wales when you eventually set off. I fear the traffic may be bad. Good luck.
I am setting off to play golf as it is not currently raining. However, the infection I mentioned where the crown fell out is getting no better and, in fact, is quite sore today. Maybe the golf will take my mind off it. The dentist said to ring in such an event and he would write me a prescription for antibiotics!! I rang and, guess what, it is his day off!!!! The receptionist is going to put a note under his door and, with any luck, I should have it by tomorrow lunchtime before the chemists close for Good Friday. I am now regretting not getting the prescription when it was first offered instead of saying I would try salt water mouthwashes first!!! Hey ho!!!
  • Update - - I got to the golf club and found most of the ladies in the clubhouse drinking coffee having decided not to go out!!! I joined them with much relief as it was pouring down!!! In the hour I was there, 4 intrepid (or mad) ladies went out.
So, change of plan. I will go and do my supermarket shop this afternoon.
  • A pleasant morning so we went to Dochgarroch for a walk with Benson.....this had nothing to do with the fact that Mieles Ice Cream kiosk had opened at An Talla. yum yum.
  • Morning all:  Well, techy guy is here and - surprise! - turns out that OH never uses a PW to turn on his computer so I spent two hours last night trying to access something that doesn't exist!   Oh well.  He says there are problems with Windows files and is in the process of fixing (we hope) them.

Lindybird:  Hope you can avoid long-weekend traffic

AQ;  I doubt that your eyes have changed in 8 days; sounds like an excuse.  But glad you can drive and can now avoid the risk of rushing into men's bathrooms.

Rusty: Good luck with the tooth and the Rx for the antibiotics.

    Off to pay bills today.

  • ANNETTE: THANKS! I'm okay here. The tornado sirens went off in my small town this morning, but the emergency radio bulletins said that the tornado on the ground was safely east of me; it didn't go over my house. Today wasn't nearly as bad as last Friday. Much of my area still doesn't have power (fallen trees on the lines), and the electrical workers have been working hard day and night. My community still managed to send 2 big trucks full of donations to Sullivan.

BJANE: I hope you're okay. Those enormous hail stones reported in Iowa were astonishing! (UK folks: They were bigger than tennis balls.)
