News of a first chick from a new nest in the Midlands.

West Midlands Ringing Group have posted on Facebook that they have ringed an osprey chick 5H9, whose parents are KA6 (2019)f, and 2AM (2017)m. 2AM is a Manton Bay chick. KA6 is from the last clutch which was raised at Clywedog by Dylan and Delyth. She was the first female to breed at Clywedog in 2014, initially with Dai Dot and from 2016 with Dylan. This is the first known instance of one of her chicks raising their own young.

Exact location of the nest in the Midlands is not given; the W Mids ringing group say this is the first osprey chick they have ringed.

Poul 2E3 migration journey.
Poul is flying very strongly and has made it to Bordeaux in France this evening.

Poul 2E3 's progress.
Big mountain ranges are no problem to Poul 2E3. He has crossed the Pyrenees and is moving on through the Spanish countryside.

Migration update Poul 2E3 , 2nd September 2023.
Poul is in the south of Spain, in the region of Andalusia this morning. His journey is beside the Gor River and flying over what appear to be lines of cherry trees. Ahead of him lies Sierra Nevada Hills or he could veer westerly towards Gibraltar.
There are severe storm warnings for Spain today so he will have to decide whether to power onwards ahead of the storm or rest up a while. His tracker temperature reading yesterday was 43 degrees.alley update

Poul reaches Africa
3rd September 2023.
Poul 2E3 has made it to North Africa. Here is a satellite image taken from Google Earth to show where Poul is in Morocco in relation to Glen 708's location in Western Sahara.
Glen has been there since December 2022.
