Last season it was decided to restrict live streaming to one cam only (no PTZ) and with no IR for nightcam - this was because the pair who'd been so promising in 2021 had apparently been scared off while they were still bonding, so advice was taken from Roy Dennis on how to avoid unnecessarily alarming the birds and that was the result.
We trust that "normal service will be resumed" this season.
On the 10th of April 2022 our female from 2021, whom Mike had named Mistle, returned - and two days later her partner AX6 Axel duly arrived. Both were spotted by Ailie and CRinger, and both of those talents we have lost - the latter due to the unwelcome renaming of Mistle to Asha, which the rest of us have accepted... because we had no choice
Breeding commenced late, and Axel wasn't the best provider nor the best nest-builder we'd ever seen - nevertheless the pair went on to fledge two beautiful chicks, one of whom tragically died thru, a necropsy determined, salmonella infection.
Asha left very early and we thought Axel had gone early too - but he made surprise appearances until quite late (dates anyone?).
I'll have to do it myself then - Axel was last seen on 10 September @ 11:09, when he flew off after first a visit to the nest and campost, and then a 5-minute preen on the perch.
"Axel", Blue AX6(16) male (yes he does have strong chest markings), a single chick (possibly from 3 eggs) hatched Glen Affric, near Beauly, seen Lossiemouth 2020, then at LG in 2021
"Asha"- Female - Unringed - partnered Axel in 2021.
Chicks:
Blue 1C2 Male
Blue 1C1 Female (died)
Sometimes Asha had to be quite assertive to get Axel off the eggs - always a good sign

Good volume, eventually!
Asha is now waiting alone on the nest.
More than one mating attempt - the one I was watching, she lifted her tail but his didn't function properly, he just paddled.
(Am trying to 'do' some other nests.)
Out of chron - I thought I should have highlighted the dropped/retrieved fish rather than let the clips be lost among others, so here's the 2-day event:
Asha has been fish-calling for ages, working up from her gentle chirps early this morning. It's not working, tho - he just flew off and returned for a maybe-momentarily successful mating, and now he's not going anywhere...
As you may gather, I'm in a rather higgledy-piggledy state.
Here was our new male in last night's evening sun - he's a very strong-looking osprey, and if - and only if - he turns out to be a good 'un, I'd love him to be named after our lovely erstwhile Maltese recruit Nimrod
Yet another failed mating attempt - must go thru carefully and see the success ratio.
EDIT
He brought a bale:
There haven't been many attempts at all, dunno what I think I've been seeing.
One successful, but contact was oh-so-fleeting after the faff:
She might be seeing him with fish - it sounds like it but she's stopping 'n starting...
OFF TOPIC
This is very nice, WENDY, replacing that pink theme - standard Firefox range, not third-party:
Back ON-TOPIC
Can't see anyone over there, and Asha has fallen silent:
Chirping stopped abruptly, Asha has flown.
Back with a clump with a tail:
I'm packing up for a while, SYAL.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I've had an internet outage and had to sacrifice quite a lot of time but not from LG.
Asha defennded this morning - I think it was a blue darvic on left leg but couldn't get anywhere near reading it:
Then in the afternoon they both flew in to defend - it came to nothing - but they each had their own fish !!! Presumably (1) he would have given Asha his eventually, you can see he hadn't made much of a start on it, and (2) Asha couldn't wait any longer so she caught her own
I have "decided" that he is the darker of the two, otherwise I can't tell the difference here.
