Last season it was decided to restrict live streaming to one cam only (no PTZ) and with no IR for nightcam - this was because the pair who'd been so promising in 2021 had apparently been scared off while they were still bonding, so advice was taken from Roy Dennis on how to avoid unnecessarily alarming the birds and that was the result.
We trust that "normal service will be resumed" this season.
On the 10th of April 2022 our female from 2021, whom Mike had named Mistle, returned - and two days later her partner AX6 Axel duly arrived. Both were spotted by Ailie and CRinger, and both of those talents we have lost - the latter due to the unwelcome renaming of Mistle to Asha, which the rest of us have accepted... because we had no choice
Breeding commenced late, and Axel wasn't the best provider nor the best nest-builder we'd ever seen - nevertheless the pair went on to fledge two beautiful chicks, one of whom tragically died thru, a necropsy determined, salmonella infection.
Asha left very early and we thought Axel had gone early too - but he made surprise appearances until quite late (dates anyone?).
I'll have to do it myself then - Axel was last seen on 10 September @ 11:09, when he flew off after first a visit to the nest and campost, and then a 5-minute preen on the perch.
"Axel", Blue AX6(16) male (yes he does have strong chest markings), a single chick (possibly from 3 eggs) hatched Glen Affric, near Beauly, seen Lossiemouth 2020, then at LG in 2021
"Asha"- Female - Unringed - partnered Axel in 2021.
Chicks:
Blue 1C2 Male
Blue 1C1 Female (died)
Sometimes Asha had to be quite assertive to get Axel off the eggs - always a good sign

IMAGICAT
Trevor, I think that is where the old nest was, but I may also be wrong
I hope they are going to sort out and prepare the nest for our arriving pair again
There was such excitement last year when Axel and the now Asha claimed this nest and raised 2 young, they sadly lost one. We had no night camera, and if I remember viewing was intermittent. This beig such an iconic nest and after all the sadness with our beloved birds being lost as well as all the tragities here, we should be welcoming them back to a lovely cleaned up nest. Time and effort went into erecting the new nest last hear, which amazingly was used, you would think they would want to help them by getting it it ready. Maybe plans are in place to do this, hopefully we will get some post or blog with an update, to let us know what is happening.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But what an amazing view this morning.. the only thing missing to make this better is an osprey (or 2) on the nest

Sorry, Trevor, I should have said "there ia only one cam in use". So last season, when the nestcam was pooped blind, we didn't have the alternative PTZ that could have zoomed us a clear view - and it looks as tho we won't this season either, as it must be too late to disturb the area now ???
Just a single Great Tit spotted this morning up to a bit after noon, it had a good potter/perch:
Greetings for the new season to everyone and the head of Mission Control, who I see has already been busy. I’ve checked around the different threads to catch up. Is it true there is no longer a link to “the latest post” and that we have to get there through the opening page? (Don’t mean to start off with a gripe, but it’s me…)

I have no words so my unspeaking must make my excuses - it's absolutely wonderful to see you back { { { CC } } }
Click on the 3 dots to go to the last post in the thread - if it's hours since the last post it'll say (eg) 3 hours ago and you click on that
Oh cr*p! The problem is I’m on my iPad! It doesn’t seem to have the same interface as my laptop. Thank you, I feel like a dufus now. I’ll try to do most of my browsing in the laptop then.
Other than that, how BEAUTIFUL it is to “see” you Scylla, and see the community coming back for another season’s ride! Happy Spring everyone!
I've just had a look in Firefox browser on my Android phablet - and the interface is the same as laptop. (But it has to be a dire emergency for me to use it, as I am utterly incompetent on smart things.)
Last night I wrote to LG VC asking about the cams and nest... but it came back to me saying that the address abernethy@rspb.org.uk doesn't exist. I thought that that was the address seen under Fergus's msg somewhere but can't find it to check. The one I know is right is for Jess, but she's got more than one role now so I wouldn't bother her directly.
EDIT
I've just remembered (I think)... the address was in a reply from Fergus to one of us protesting against the change of Mistle's name, and the recipient posted it here for us to see - I'll never find it now.
