HAPPY NEW WEEK!
The White Pelicans are back for their migration layover on their way to the Canadian breeding grounds. They always arrive here sometime between late February and early April. I think they wish they'd waited a little longer this year. They're huddled on an island in the lake waiting for the snow tonight!
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
This morn I bussed to collect my 2 Library “Holds” plus 3 more. Then I queried my other “Hold” which some one was due to return a week ago. “Please can I change to one of those 14 copies available in other libraries?? Librarian is not sure. Then she says i am not next on the list anyway. She decides NOT to cancel that one but order another and for good measure she orders the Large Print version. I am surprised the system does not have apoplexy that I now have 3 copies of the same book on Hold. I wonder which copy gets here first!
My bus ride home was more interesting than usual. First I must explain this bus from the city calls into the Airport, winds its way through our suburb before ending at a shopping centre named Harbour Town; waits a while and returns to city same route. Two ladies got on at local shops and ask “Going to Glenelg?” No, says the driver, I am going to Harbour Town; you can change for Glenelg there. You should have been at the stop across the road.
Around in next street we pick up an elderly Indian couple who want to pay by credit card and are confused when told to use the machine halfway down the bus. Man fumbles his card, machine gives a beep and a burp, he shrugs and sits down opposite me. He asks me “Do I have to do that when I get off?” No. Around the corner nearing my stop and he asks “This is going to the Airport?” No, you were on wrong side of road. The driver chimes in and says they can catch bus back from Harbour Town. The driver is so busy talking that he sails past my stop. That's OK, I don't have so far to walk home! Then, around the corner comes the opposite-direction bus, drivers communicate, the couple get off, run across road to catch that bus back to Airport. Their lucky day.
