HAPPY NEW WEEK!

The White Pelicans are back for their migration layover on their way to the Canadian breeding grounds. They always arrive here sometime between late February and early April. I think they wish they'd waited a little longer this year. They're huddled on an island in the lake waiting for the snow tonight!

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

  • A wonderful view, LINDY. How long are you going to be away?
  • Didn't get washed away, but we could easily think we're in England right now.

Lindybird: Relax and enjoy for us too please.
  • Sorry you're getting so much rain, Annette - I saw the reports of flooding in California before I came away.

Thank you, All. Heather, we have two weeks here before returning to see how much our garden has grown again. My OH is looking more relaxed already - he loves the sun.

We spent today being lazy, and sat on our terrace with fruit juice & tea, reading books and doing puzzles. I had cut out four giant crosswords from our local newspaper as we like to tackle those together, so began one this morning. It was only as I wrote the first few lines that I had to admit to realising a big mistake--- I had not brought the answers with me!! So we will have to work hard to get them completed if we are left with any unsolved clues!! Argh!!

So nice to have WiFi and be able to keep in touch with family and friends.
  • Yesterday morn I had another shopping excursion on Community Bus. Despite going slow, I completed my shopping in half an hour and then I sat in the "mall" watching the shoppers for another hour. Together travel time, only 3 hours wasted this time. I collected the Trio’s Easter gifts and the choc bilbies survived the bus but were overwhelmed by all the rabbits on board in other shopping bags!

OH has been grumpy this week, leading up to yesterday's neurologist's appt. He says "Waste of time. He doesn't do anything." Getting ready, he changed his shirt 3 times and trousers twice. Taxi early, Doc late & OH dozed off in waiting room. He perked up during appt! Today he went out to lunch.

Who turned on the heat? Almost 33 C in city, slightly cooler 29 C but humid here near the beach.  I see LINDA is enjoying sunshine.

  • AQ - I like reading about your shopping/ bus /library trips ! I'm glad that your OH is still managing to get out for his lunch trips. My SiL is still warm - he's on a boat (ship?) off a place called Dampier. I had no idea that there were so many islands off the Australian coast - I've been looking at maps.
  • HEATHER - I didn't realize s-i-l was so far north. No wonder he is finding it a bit warm!

  • AQ - I too enjoy your bus trips with you. There is always something of interest. While you are waiting isn’t there somewhere to get a coffee? I loved the bird article. Those crested terns have such a “surprised” look about them!!!!
  • Warm here -- well, 23 degrees and rising, but not expected to be particularly hot (for us). Heavy cloud when we woke but it gets burnt off by the sunshine. It's drizzled in the night & the air is still humid.

AQ - Enjoyed reading about your birds, so good that populations are up. Always astounded that the migrants manage such epic journeys!

Had a bad night, as made the mistake of eating a few squares of chocolate which must have stimulated my brain. Did our entire family tree in my head and have some questions for my cousin on our return about family members I'm not sure of. Our daughter in law has been researching our ancestors and has gone back quite a way - lots of lovely Christian names but on my mother's side, a lot of surnames with Smith!! Not easy to follow as so common. She did find a tenuous link to some sort of cousins who have another person also researching them at the moment, and she claims links which go back to William the Conqueror!!
