HAPPY NEW WEEK!

The White Pelicans are back for their migration layover on their way to the Canadian breeding grounds. They always arrive here sometime between late February and early April. I think they wish they'd waited a little longer this year. They're huddled on an island in the lake waiting for the snow tonight!

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

  • LOVE the coot! Thanks for the photo
  • It was fun finding it again bjane!!! Can’t get over its feet!!!!

Isn’t nature wonderful? Remember my tulips covered by snow last week? Look at them today!!!!

  • Thank you DIANE -
AQ - this is the first time that SIL has taken the direct flight. The last few have been via Qatar with quite a long layover there. Anyway, I am informed that yesterday was 42 degrees in the shade - he is on a boat this time, not a rig.
I'm awaiting a visit from eldest daughter - unusual for me to see anyone apart from Saturday shopping !
  • Thank you for starting the week DIANE

We have enjoyed some wonderful blue sky days,,,,,,,cold but beautiful ?Today has been all change!!!!
  • A wet afternoon here - then will get colder in the week.

Loved the flower container, RUSTY. We have had crocus bloming for weeks, and the daffs under the Alder are putting on a good show - but the ones in containers in the back garden are very slow.
  • RUSTY – Almost every one of the natives I met in UK was friendly. Just a waiter here or there who did not want a lone diner for dinner. Note I always ate early and gone before the rush (if there was a rush). Most of my contacts were B&Bs and TI offices but I did visit and potter around in many small villages from Scotland to Yorkshire to Sussex.

LINDA - Have a great trip. Expect there will be plane delays & diversions and you may be pleasantly surprised. Don’t forget to pack comfy shoes!

PAT – A recent flight from Thailand to Melbourne 7 hours into the flight had to land at Alice Springs due to a passenger’s “medical emergency”. It is not an international airport and does not have customs facilities, so everyone else had to stay on the plane. Then the plane had an electrical problem and another plane had to be flown in. They were kept in plane on the tarmac for further 7 hours! Many complaints but I would prefer health of the sick and safety of the plane.

I am waiting for my last 2 tomatoes to ripen. A poor harvest this year although enough to freeze 4 small packs for winter meals.

  • Just a thought

My favourite childhood memory is my parents paying for my holidays.

A good holiday is one spent among people whose notions of time are vaguer than yours. (J B Priestley)

The first piece of luggage on the carousel belongs to no one. It’s just a dummy suitcase to give everyone hope. (Erma Bombeck)

  • It’s very wild out there this morning. Wet and windy. I bet you are glad you are not flying out of Manchester today Lindy. I am sure you can’t wait to get away to somewhere warmer.
  • LOL!! Especially to the last one, AQ!

Very wet this morning so finding my big boots to wear to the funeral we're going to today.

Lovely tub of pretty tulips, Rusty.
  • RUSTY - love the tulips !
It is a cold snowy/sleety morning here. I think I'll have a very lazy day. Correction, I WILL have a lazy day :-)
