All the HISTORY of Balgavies Loch Ospreys can be found at the start of the 2019 THREAD.
It is a SWT Nature Reserve near Forfar, Angus, Scotland. There is no webcam on the nest, and there is no Visitor Centre, only a small Hide with limited car parking spaces.

The nest failed in 2020 and 2019 but the new male KR3 and Unringed female returned in 2021 and raised 3 chicks.
In 2022 the nest collapsed but the one chick Blue 640 survived and went on to be a well fed and cared for chick.
Mary Rogers along with her husband found the chick when the nest collapsed and set in motion a chain of events that resulted in it being ringed Blue 640 which has proved very beneficial as you can see from my following post. Mary named the chick "The Bairn"

Glider said:Congratulations on your first egg!!! Haha, now if only hens laid eggs like that too, I’d be in my element! Mrs BF is a gorgeous bird. You can see every feather, every detail so clearly, thank you.

Me too Glider nothing like a chocolate egg, even for breakfast LOL....
LATEST POST FROM DARREN ON BALGAVIES LOCH OSPREY PAGE.
ALSO A FEW CRACKING PHOTOS HE TOOK OF KR3 during last week, but I couldn't post as away on holiday.
No sign of any egg being laid so far, with no webcam we have to bide our time until we see one of them sitting low in the nest
Glider said:Haha, I’m with you on that Mary (chocolate eggs for breakfast!!) Hope you had a nice holiday. Thanks for all the updates and fab photos. You’re right, we’ll see the signs the eggs are being laid even if we don’t see the eggs! ️

I think we are excused, as usually its Easter and Christmas that we are allowed Chocolate for breakfast
Yes - thank you very much
It is always difficult to report what is happening on the nest as we rely on people reporting what they see when they visit, and of course not everyone does that. Darren and other Admins do visit but not 24/7.
Some fabulous photos Darren sent me of Blue YD's female in flight and the two of them on their nest at undisclosed location in the Kingdom of Fife.
Darren was at the Loch yesterday but still no signs of them incubating. He sent these fabulous photos that he took.

IMAGICAT
I spent last week at Balgavies Loch, weather could have been better, and I have only a wee bridge camera so my photos are rubbish but will show anyway
Had a good blether with Jim the warden and he said that the female had been incubating since 28th April.
I also paid Blue YD a visit in Fife on Thursday, the female wasn’t sitting at the time I was there, but was I was so thrilled to see Blue YD busy flying around and over my head picking up sticks to bring to the nest.
You can just about see the Balgavies female's head as she incubates. The nest is no longer on the island now, it is to the side on the peninsula. The best view point is on the north side path round the Loch where Darren and all the photographers go, but that is too far for me to walk there and back now, but at least through the binoculars you still get a view of the nest.
