Dorcha bringing her one and only fish on 18th August 2022 before departing and not being seen again
Louis incubating the eggs while Aila is seen flying with a fish in the misty distance on 9th May 2020.
All captures in whatever format are copyright Woodland Trust - with many thanks for allowing captures from their nest cam livestreams
Supper is delivered. Fish number two arrives at 18.45.39
20.45 Nest Two Handover from Louis to Dorcha, wonderful view of her doing a flypast before approaching the nest.
20.45.38 Louis goes flyabout
20.46.14 Louis returns
20.46.15 Dorcha seen flying right to left
20.46.31 Dorcha lands, Louis starts to settle on the eggs and Dorcha starts fussing with sticks
20.47.10 Louis takes the hint and departs
23.10.34 Nest One: a Tawny Owl visits - movement is just visible in the branches lower left of the nest, above the date stamp, as the Tawny Owl arrives. It makes its way up onto the nest at 23.11.28, then perches, hops down, stretches, wingflaps, hops up, gives a call then departs at 23.14.47 - looks like a newly fledged juvenile? It was chasing and eating something - an insect?
04.51.01 Fish number one arrives, season's earliest. Headless trout
Sandra P said:Hi Geemeff, Yes, that did appear to be a beautiful, juvenile Tawny who was doing lots of pouncing practice. Its food begging call was a giveaway too!
It was a lovely way to end the day - I enjoyed the clumsy pouncing around.
Glider said:I loved the wee owl clip too. Great find Geemeff. Also, I think Dorcha may be having to watch her waistline with her 2 fish a day!!
Glad you enjoyed it, it’s quite different having one pop up on an empty nest, no resident to get stressed out. So good to have any activity on that nest, never mind a cute little one like that.
Stunning sunrise on Nest One
07.17.18 And yet more action on Nest One - a handsome Jay visits
