HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON and HAPPY TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE!
The eclipse occurs in the wee hours of the morning on Tuesday. It will be visible in the U.S. and Australia, but not in the U.K. However, many sites will stream it online with commentary.
I'll put a link to a nice list of online streaming science sites in a post below.
This is the last total lunar eclipse until 2025.
Everyone have a joyful week.
It can be viewed from the steep cliffs, looking down. There is a building there containing a cafe, which has the best view - you pay to go in and gaze at this marvel laid out below.
Note the town (the only one on the island) with the boats in the marina there.
Other boats enjoying sailing around it.
It was a hazy day and not best for photography. I have some better ones from years ago, some of them with the entire view looking pink due to local mist. But that was so long ago I don't know where they are now - they're not digital.
We enjoyed a coffee and a break, and clambered about looking for better views. Many nationalities were also there, for the same thrill of looking over the edge at the sheer drop below us, and the pretty island.
Inside the cafe were two imaginative light fittings...
Looking down from a higher vantage point at others enjoying the view. Behind them, you can see windows which were cut into the rock to give light inside the cafe from above.
As we left, I photographed the entrance:
Places with good views are called "miradors"
Taken as we drove away, through the open car window.
