Ringing in Moray and Nairy - Osprey blue 235 (1414254) was ringed in Easter Ross on 5 July 2020 and sighted at the Lossie estuary (NJ2469) on 18 May 2022, after 1 year 10 months.

It absolutely is, particularly as he has intruded before this year.

16.52  1C2 could be heard calling off the nest.  Asha responded.  She still had some

16.54   Here he is!  Calling while Asha eats some more fish.

17.26  Asha still has some fish left, and 1C2 is still calling.

17.29    Asha walks the tail fin to the left of the nest, 1C2 follows her.  She also spots what I assume was the remains of 1C2's fish, and gets hold of it.  It has more flesh than her own.  I thought he had finished it!

17.56    Asha is still managing to get enough fish off the bone to now feed 1C2 again.  But at least she has had a good meal from it today.

18.00    She picks up the a fin tail, and he takes it!  LOL  Such a Piggy.  He isn't impressed and calls for more.  She  returned to the left side of the nest and appears to have found possibly her tail end!  She is eating from something, and 1C2 calls and calls. 

18.02     Asha gives him a bit of fish, now and again.

18.18    1C2 flew off, still in full vocals. And Asha continued eating.

18.27     She is still eating, he has just gone quiet.

18.39    But not for long.  She is calling, and eating, and 1C2 can be heard calling off the nest!

18.41   And here is he back, begging for yet more.  Piggy!  You really can't be 'hungry'.  

He manages to find some left overs!

Bart - I see you were asking on chat why the juvies haven't been named. Someone said it was because their Darvics were considered their names.
That's not strictly true. Many osprey project chose to name their chicks, and LG did up until the last chicks fledged in 2016, Rowan and Willow. It seems to have become more fashionable these days not to name them. We were lucky that Axel retained the name we gave him last year, even if Mistle didn't. TV does, Dyfi does, Clywedog does, Llyn Brenig does.  There are others, but I would have to delve.  LotL has an unofficial name of Laddie for the unringed male..  Maya was an exception at RW when 33 became the resident male. They could no longer call the unringed resident female Mrs 5N, so she was called Maya. I can't remember now, who or why chose, but possibly it was a local school.

18.51 Asha flew to the dead tree, but 1C2 remained on the nest calling for even more fish!!

However I was just wondering as you said a lot of nests give names and others don’t

Sandra thank you for reminding me, how could I have forgotten!! It makes so much sense and it totally relevant!

All of the Kielder Ospreys are given names when they are ringed, The first letter signifying the year and the names are taken from locations, villages, steams, moors etc close to Kielder or in the Northumbria region.

Of course, thank you Nellie. I love the idea of it being 'local' to an area. Some of LG's were too.  For example, Desha comes from the Deshar primary school who named him, Bynack Moor is in the Cairngorms, Nethy from Nethy Bridge.
