So, we now enter August knowing that we will only have the pleasure of watching this beautiful family all together for a limited number of weeks. Both LP8 and LR0 have transformed into two strong, independent individuals. Their attentive parents have continued to provide for and nurture them and this, in turn, has given the juveniles a basis to continue their growth into full adulthood, wherever they decide to settle during the next couple of years.Last season, NC0 began her southerly migration on the 22nd August; Laddie on the 25th (these dates were their last webcam sightings). We can only hope that all of the 2022 family have safe, unhindered journeys to warmer climes, aided by fair winds as well as an abundance of fish along the way, and that we will welcome Laddie and NC0 back to this stunning Loch of the Lowes location in the spring of 2023.

A fabulous, headless fish from Laddie at 9:20 (in their same stances, LP8, on the left, looks relatively larger than LR0)
LR0 got to it first
LP8 charged in and took the fish
Then dropped it to 'have a go' at Laddie
LR0 picked up the fish with LP8 going after him
LP8 warned off LR0 and reclaimed the fish
Laddie left the nest

Fish steal by LR0 at 10:46
LP8 feaking its beak before making a few contact calls and subsequently leaving the nest
Heading towards the area marked
LR0 continued his meal
11:05 Distant chipping/alarm calling heard. LR0 stopped eating
LR0 still eating, 12:16
12:52 LR0 finally gave up with the fish (over two hours of eating!) and left the nest
LP8, who had arrived 35 minutes before and had been patiently waiting, picked up the remainder of the fish and began its second helping
NC0 has not been at the nest
LP8 finally finished the fish tail and left the nest at 13:51ish
A good stretch of its wings
13:57 NC0 arrived! She'd probably seen the crow that had been on her nest! lol
NC0 called and there was a reply - LP8 then came into view (from the birch area) and joined its mum (at 14:05) thinking there was fish on offer
Intruder alert at 14:15. Alarm calling from both NC0 and LP8
Tracking
NC0 stared intently in this direction...
Then flew off the nest
14:41 NC0 has not returned. LP8 waiting on the nest
It was so good to see NC0 (Her last visit to the nest, as far as I've seen, was on the evening of the 3rd of August)
A small 'live' fish from Laddie at 17:33. LR0 was vocalising on the birch. By the time Laddie had landed, LR0 was already on his way to the nest
LR0 went over to the fish but Laddie stood on it with both feet. High pitched calls were heard and LP8 approached the nest
A split second before LP8 landed, Laddie had already decided to leave. The fish dropped onto the nest
LP8 picked up the fish, LR0 made no attempt to get it
LP8 ate all of the fish, swallowing the fish tail at 17:41
