link to JUNE 2022
1st fish of July 2022 arrived at 07.34. Not too shabby an effort! Headless trout delivered by LJ2 whilst LM6 was off the nest. She soon followed on to collect the fish.
It looks like it was a nice calm morning.
LM6 and the chicks got a couple of feeds off this fish before LJ2 took it away. He returned with what was left at around 10.40.
LJ2 started eating it on the nest. Chick #2 came to see if it could get any and LJ2 gently fed it a few pieces before finishing it off.
13.35 the chicks had been relaxing after their exertions. LJ2 comes to the nest with a small headless fish. KA9/Gelert happens to be next to where LJ2 landed so takes the fish.
However, X6/Olwen had other ideas and would’ve done the Welsh Rugby Team proud with her sliding tackle underneath Gelert.
Olwen practically upped Gelert in the air and came away with the fish!
LJ2 made a couple of chipping calls, LM6 arrived but didn’t join in, the chicks pancake ( Olwen on her fish). Alert quickly over and Olwen tucks into her prize.
This flying business is hungry work!

It is indeed Alison, my pleasure.
15.31 LJ2 arrives at the nest with a small live fish. KA9/Gelert is over for it straight away.
Gelert takes the fish to the side closely followed by X6/Olwen.
Olwen was asking for fish and not getting any, her patience ran out and she took a grab of the fish with her beak. Gelert held on strongly with his talons and retained the fish.
Olwen moved away. Calling could be heard in the background. Olwen decided to go for another wee fly about, leaving from a different part of the nest this time.
Gelert mantled over his fish then noticed Olwen fly over the water. LJ2 started chipping from nearby and Gelert pancaked on his fish.
At one point, 2 ospreys could be seen flying over the water. Within 2 minutes, Olwen was flying back to the nest.
She flew in beautifully to land safely.
Gelert finished off his fish.
Olwen didn’t have to wait long for a feed. 16.10 and Mum, LM6 flew in with the biggest fish of the day and very lively too.
X6 came over for the fish which looked like a pike.
She took it to the edge of the nest.
And the fish keep coming. 16.38, the chicks are calling loudly as they see their dad, LJ2 inbound with a fish.
LJ2 waits on his mate returning to the nest before he’ll release this headless specimen.
LM6 feeds the chicks.
09.35 LJ2 pops by to collect the end of the fish that was left from earlier.
22.01 I think one of the ospreys is repeatedly doing the HUMAN INTRUDER warning call. I can hear shuffling noises from below. The 2 youngsters are sitting tight.
22.14 night cam goes on. It’s still quiet at the nest site with the odd creak. Bird noises in the distance can be heard. Chicks are still laying low.
