link to JUNE 2022
1st fish of July 2022 arrived at 07.34. Not too shabby an effort! Headless trout delivered by LJ2 whilst LM6 was off the nest. She soon followed on to collect the fish.
It looks like it was a nice calm morning.
LM6 and the chicks got a couple of feeds off this fish before LJ2 took it away. He returned with what was left at around 10.40.
LJ2 started eating it on the nest. Chick #2 came to see if it could get any and LJ2 gently fed it a few pieces before finishing it off.
Earlier, LM6 brought some dark bedding to the nest.
Soon after, LJ2 arrived on his surfboard! The kids now have a surfboard each to play with!
She stood at the edge of the nest for a wee look first
and then calmly lifted her wings
one flap and a smooth take off
Off she goes into the unknown.
The buffering of the stream leaves imprints of her journey.
KA9 turned to see what had just happened
then decided to pancake!
Is KA9 tracking his sister?
And she’s back safely on the nest after a minute or so.
At least one of the parent birds was around as calling could be heard in the background.
LM6 flew onto the perch to be near her chicks. Inspired by his sister, KA9/Gelert goes to the spot where X6/Olwen fledged from.
He lifts his wings then changes his mind. Only for a short time though, around 13.00 he tries again
and manages his biggest lift off yet.
he is in the air for a few seconds.
and negotiates a safe landing.
Soon after that successful hover, he tries another. LM6 flies down from the perch to the nest to offer her support.
and up he goes again
wheeeee and then back down again!
