link to JUNE 2022
1st fish of July 2022 arrived at 07.34. Not too shabby an effort! Headless trout delivered by LJ2 whilst LM6 was off the nest. She soon followed on to collect the fish.
It looks like it was a nice calm morning.
LM6 and the chicks got a couple of feeds off this fish before LJ2 took it away. He returned with what was left at around 10.40.
LJ2 started eating it on the nest. Chick #2 came to see if it could get any and LJ2 gently fed it a few pieces before finishing it off.
LM6 leaves the nest at 20.50 and the chicks cuddle in for the night.
Interesting, I was scrolling back through some of last year’s comments on the forums and when LM6 first arrived on this nest, Brenig Facebook noticed that her blue darvic ring was broken. No wonder it fell off a few days ago. I’m surprised it lasted over a year!

LM6 joined her chicks on her perch at 22.34. Still looks windy and rainy just now.
Monday, 25th July
Good morning all. We’ve had a night of rain. LM6 stayed on the perch all night and has been on and off the nest this morning. The chicks were looking a bit bedraggled first thing but have dried off nicely now as the weather has brightened..
X6/Olwen is 55 days old and KA9/Gelert is 53 days old. 55days seems to be the average age for young ospreys fledging. With lots of hovering yesterday, let’s see what today brings.
07.41 and X6/Olwen came closer to the camera to show us how beautiful she is.
EDIT - I think I’ve miscalculated the chicks’ ages by an extra day. Not including their birth date, they’re 54 and 52 days today! Doh!
08.30 and LJ2 arrives with the first fish of the day, small live, just a nice size for the chicks to manage.
X6/Olwen moves over to take the fish.
She collects the fish in her beak
And has a nice wee meal to herself.
08.43 and LM6 lands on the nest. KA9/Gelert heads over from the top of the nest to see what she’s brought.
Nothing this time so KA9 goes over to X6 who’s still eating her fish
and manages to take it with his beak. X6 doesn’t put up much resistance.
He then retreats to the top of the nest to eat it.
09.00 and X6/Olwen approaches KA9/Gelert who’s still eating the fish he took from her earlier.
It’s the tail that’s left and X6/Olwen brings it forward
She starts to swallow
and down it goes!So she got the head and tail and her brother, the middle part!
Live stream went off at around 11.15
Stream back up at 12.03 and what a beautiful, peaceful sight.
