LLYN BRENIG - July 2022

link to JUNE 2022

1st fish of July 2022 arrived at 07.34. Not too shabby an effort! Headless trout delivered by LJ2 whilst LM6 was off the nest. She soon followed on to collect the fish.

It looks like it was a nice calm morning.

LM6 and the chicks got a couple of feeds off this fish before LJ2 took it away. He returned with what was left at around 10.40.

LJ2 started eating it on the nest. Chick #2 came to see if it could get any and LJ2 gently fed it a few pieces before finishing it off.

  • Around 08.40 LM6 comes in with her 2nd fish of the day. A much more substantial headless one. LJ2 follows her onto the nest.

X6 managed to get the fish this time.

LM6 flies off and leaves X6 with her fish. At one point, the chicks have an end each!

    Then KA9 has the fish,

then LJ2 flies in and takes it away.

  • Around 13.05, LJ2 having had his fill, returns to the nest with the half eaten fish. Still a lot of eating left on it.

  • Around 13.30, LM6 takes the remainder of fish and feeds the chicks.

The fish is finally finished off. X6 left, KA9 right.

  • 17.47 LM6 arrives on the nest. She’s calling for LJ2, the chicks join in and he soon arrives with a very nice headless fish.

The camera is a bit blurry with the rain but I’m so glad that the weather has changed. LM6 waits to see if either of the chicks go for the fish before she takes it herself.

KA9 is first over for a feed then X6 joins him.

KA9 leaves the feed and X6 gets a solo feed.

X6 then starts asking for the fish and LM6 lifts her talons off it. X6 brings the fish to the front of the nest.

However, X6 can’t manage to eat it so it gets left lying in between the chicks.LM6 retrieves it again and finishes the feed!

  • A lovely update, Gilder. Thank you.

A lovely update, Gilder. Thank you.

You’re very welcome Sheila. They are a lovely family to report on!

  • Doesn’t look like any more fish deliveries tonight but the youngsters have fed well today. On scroll back, I happened to stop at this moment and thought “What a handsome boy you are KA9” he’s all grown up looking! (49 days old)

  • Saturday 23rd July

Good morning all, it was 23.40 before LM6 joined her little ones on the perch last night.

She’s had a busy morning, been crow chasing then went fishing.

07.45 LM6 landed on the nest, quickly followed by LJ2.

The chicks were very excited greeting their parents and fish calling. I initially didn’t know who had the fish until LM6 moved and what a beauty it was!

No wonder LJ2 quickly followed her onto the nest, he must have seen her munching into it nearby. He’ll be hoping for any leftovers later!

The chicks join mum for a feed, KA9 to the left.

  • 08.45 and LJ2 reckons everyone’s had enough time to feed and comes for his share.

He asks for it from LM6 who was standing on it, she releases and he takes it away in his beak. (The chicks stopped feeding a wee while ago.)

  • Morning Glider and thanks for all the updates.

As you say, this is a really nice nest to report on which is lovely for you considering how tough Lowes has been this season.

They are very handsome chicks - any idea how old are they now?
