HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a joyful week. The Brood X cicadas were screaming today on my patch. About a week ago, I noticed some big holes at the bottom of my trees. Various critters dig holes in my yard, so I didn't think much about it. Since then, I've seen articles about some of last year's Brood X cicadas popping up this year. Apparently, some of the bugs, called "stragglers," decided to sleep in, and they're appearing this year instead of last year. In most cases, it's because our soil didn't warm up to the required 64 degrees Fahrenheit until too late to wake them up in 2021. So, some of the noisy screechers decided to hit their snooze alarm and climb out this year instead!
Harelady: OMG. I feel so so bad for young people with kids who are currently trapped in such a god-awful situation. How can they even afford to eat! And childcare is just as expensive here. :-(
AQ: I have a gold tooth - I was wondering if it was something to include in my will.. :-)) Sounds like daughter needs to get paid after going through all that rigmarole just for volunteer work.
Lindybird/Heather: Paying taxes to get free health and childcare would never happen here, although most schools after after-school care which is reasonably priced but until a kid starts school....
dibnlib: Amazing subjects jigsaw creators are coming up with. I mean, I always start with the edges, which are typically obvious. What next I wonder?
I watched the first of the live televised telecast of January 6 hearings last night. Riveting.
Next Instalment:
Part of the sundeck on the ship - it wasnt used much on our trip, as too cold 99% of the time!
The 'Oriental Lounge' was very pretty, all pastel colours and elegant chairs. You could order an afternoon tea there, but we could never fit it in!
Lively seals by the pool! There is a movable roof above the pool so it can be in use whatever the weather.
We drew away from the port, and spent the evening floating back past the views of the fjord again.
Drama everywhere.
Still snow on the tops.
Back under the bridge - we then noticed that at each end of it, the road disappeared into the mountain. My OH said that it then turned left and right, to join the road on the side of the water which went for miles to serve all the tiny hamlets.
The other side.
As we left it behind....
Quite elegant. Our captain came on the public address system to explain that we were taking a detour down a side fjord, off the main one, to see something special.
A waterfall came into view and our jaws dropped.....
