MANTON BAY - JUNE 2022

Another Osprey sat in the bay just over 100metres away from where 33 is sat on the post that used to be Maya's perch and he didn't bat an eyelid :-)
The visiting osprey was eating a fish and a Magpie fancied its chances for a bite but the osp finished it, went to the toilet and headed off out of the bay!! How funny to watch whilst 33 and Maya went about their own business!

Feed in progress for two I began to worry where the 3rd chick was, imagine some awful scenario......and then realized that the 2 diners were sitting on it, asall became clear when one turned away

I know you can see the 3rd chicks head in the first capture but initially it wasn't visible

Chick #1 (left)  is 28 days
Chick #2 (middle)  is 27 days &
Chick #3 (right)  is 25 days old

Hard to believe it has now been four weeks since the first chick hatched!!

Indeed KAREN hard to believe....and hard to believe they could be ringed in another 2 weeks or so

I know Patily!!

But I must admit I like when the chicks get ringed as as well as finding out their sexes, we are then able to +ID them lol

Any thoughts to their sexes yet? - Presently, I am thinking 3 males!

Thank you for the updates so far this morning.
33 in his fishing tree position, about 45 metres from the low tree that the cheeky osprey was in yesterday and indeed sat there now!! 33 has seen him and given out a couple of shouts but so far not too worried! Interesting to see if we can find out who this bird is and whether 33 chases it off! Wonder if it is one of his chicks!
Will try asking at the VC to get more info later but for now will watch with interest!
Water is so much calmer so expect a lot more fishing today as yesterday the emphasise was to keep chicks dry and fed! Maya and 33 seemed a bit hungry as not too much spare food for them!
