I thought of Lady too. That wee exposed chick is still alive at the moment. It would only take Maya to move a little it might get enough heat from her. I take it the fish is still under her, taking up a lot of her brooding area. I wonder whether the team is scrambling a licence to perhaps save the egg if not the chick under her. I am sure I have read of 'adoptions' before. 12.09 Maya stands up, shakes as 33 arrives with another fish. Can't see Maya now - perhaps she has flown. Oh NO!! 33's fish is now flapping on the nest. What will he do now

12.11 Maya appears top of screen
12.12 she steps on the the cup area and finds the other tail end on the nest and starts to feed the chick which she had incubated. Slight leg and wing movement from the other wet chick. Maya suddenly shows normality, feeding the chick and taking some herself, stretching over the fresh fish that 33 had just brought in. Fortunately it hasn't moved again. 33 remains on the nest.
12.15 Maya picks up dropped morsels. The fish that caused the problems is getting buried on the nest.
12.16 Maya doesn't quite know what to do. She is treading on the original fish and now exposing it.
The original fish, 33's latest fish, the chick left outside, and the egg
She is trying to pull the egg under her, but it rolls off the original egg. As she moves forward to cover that, she has her lower leg on the exposed chick. BUT it might be under her wing now.
12.20 Maya isn't comfortable.

Scylla said: The latest fish is still flapping, it can just be seen beyond Maya.
It flapped into view - previously out of sight
And it now lies just to the right of Maya
The wee chick is still moving - it is partially under Maya. A leg is sticking out
The poor fish is still flapping - at least it is further from the cup now
The cam is focusing on the wee chick I think, Maya is decapitated, but I think she has kept her head up, which is good news
Poor little mite is moving slightly but I hold out no hope for it. How I hope to be proved over-pessimistic but I bet not :'(
I agree Scylla - it won't have the strength to lift its head to beg for food, so won't get fed. Maya is tucking into the last fish - so that won't flap again now!! The stronger chick is up and begging, and being fed which is good. Yes, Cathy she is certainly looking much brighter and with it. I don't think she would have been tucking into the fish as she it if she were unwell. 13.15 Maya crept in to the fish, the active chick and the egg.... 13.16 she pulls the egg towards her, but it keeps rolling back into the cup where the fish is lying. Oh, Maya, please move the fish out of the way. The wee chick is left out in the cold again. And Maya kept dropping her head again??
