Mistle is peacefully incubating.

I'm so pleased how things are going here. Best news in years! Fingers crossed it all continues to go well.

Did anyone find out who the intruder with the blue 3 ring was on the 1st May?

At this stage, I'm inclined to think Mistle's behaviour is due to raging hormones. This was her very first egg and now she has RESPONSIBILITIES. Not only that, if there are to be chicks, she must depend on her mate. All this must be overwhelming for a young female. I just hope she doesn't drive poor Axel away before her hormones settle.

I certainly agree with you Wattle in the hope that today's aggression doesn't drive Axel away. I suspect there was something going on in her mind that we/I don't understand.
Tomorrow's another day, and we can only watch and hope all will be as we would wish. Perhaps Mistle isn't sure about Axel, yet (I'm definitely warming to him). She will be forming another egg which will be due tomorrow. All a new experiences for her. Remember the shock when she laid #1!

Thanks Tiger. Very interesting. I thought someone had collated data from various nests on how long eggs hadn't been incubated for yet still hatched?

Mistte has begun calling Axel comes in to mate. . She leaves and  Axel returns 13.16.

Mistle returns calling for fish. He chirps gently in response.
