Many thanks to AG who wrote this preface to the Llyn Brenig thread for us (below)
Llyn Brenig is a reservoir on the border between Denbighshire and County Conwy in North Wales. It is managed by Welsh Water; the osprey project is a partnership between them and North Wales Wildlife Trust.
One pair of ospreys raised a single chick here each year from 2018-2020. Neither of this pair returned in 2021, when the nest was taken over by 2 Scottish birds, LJ2 (male) and LM6 (female), both 2018 chicks. The nest was vandalised the night after LM6 had laid her first egg; while the two could not continue to breed they did stay close to the site until normal migration time.
A new nest has been erected in 2022 with additional security and a streaming camera is in place. A new hide has also been built.

Around 20.50 a small, lively fish is brought to the nest by LJ2
Both chicks are hungry and are fed until it’s finished in just under 15 mins.
Just look at how their wee tails are starting to grow, especially chick #1 to the right.
From what I can see from scroll back, there have been 3 fish deliveries today.
Around 07.00 a small whole one
Around 09.35 a large headless one
and around 17.30 another small whole one.
20.10 Supper time - LJ2 with live whole fish.
21.20 One more fish before dark, a small headless one. Tricky to get a decent image as the screen kept stalling and going blank,
You can see the form of the fish a bit better as LM6 holds it whilst feeding.
Interesting, just before LJ2 arrived with the fish, LM6 had left the nest and was calling for the chicks to pancake which they did very well! LJ2 then arrived and they were still pancaking. LM6 followed him onto the nest.
Just after 09.00 LJ2 arrived at the nest. Oh my, that’s a big fish.
LJ2 took the large fish away after LM6 and the chicks had had a good feed. He returned around 11.10 with the remainder for his family.
16.16 Hello! Fish delivery.
The fish looked bigger than it was! But still a nice meal for LM6 and the chicks.
LM6 has spent a lot of the day protecting her chicks from the elements
18.10 another fish delivery
The chicks decided to eat individually, one fed whilst the other rested.
Time for a changeover!
With both chicks withdrawing from the feed, LM6 got the small tail end and a few scraps that were dropped.
Good morning, a blustery day here today. LM6 has spent most of the time sheltering her chicks.
Around 07.21, LJ2 brings the first fish of the day, freshly caught.
LM6 receives it and the chicks are over straight away to be fed.
After around 20 minutes, the fish is gone and LM6 leaves for a quick comfort break. You can see the feather development on chick #1.
LM6 returns and cosies in the chicks once more.
