CAPTIVA OSPREYS - Andy & Lena
I'd been posting in "Forum Friends", here's a snap brought over, for the sake of starting this thread with something!
IMAGICAT
SW Florida Osprey and Eagle cams (and the NE Florida Eagles) all down due to Hurricane Ian.
Severely damaged, impassable Sanibel Causeway.
From Lin Lawson's Osprey Friends FB page I see that a local has reported that the SW Florida nest of Harriet and M15 has been blown down/away but the tree still stands. I remember that tree being somewhat depleted after a hurricane some years ago - my pics and videos of the beautiful tree being invaded by Grackles and/or Starlings... are all "misplaced" :(((
This tragedy is too big to grasp.

I'm not twigging ABE, Wendy, but am having more and more senior moments lately.
The Captiva Osprey nest was rebuilt for this season
American Bald Eagle Just read that the cameras are gone too, awful! Now waiting for sightings of Harriet & partner (name escapes me)
Any updates on Captiva Osprey nest?
The more I read on the devestation caused by Hurricane Ian the worse the situation becomes, those poor people!! We don't always realise how lucky we are to live in UK!
Thank you (((Korky)))

M15, often known simply as M.

No - I think our best bet for updates is the Window to Wildlife FB page, but they don't know anything yet. I see that one commenter said that she saw a drone vid in which a bald eagle flew by, giving hope.
I haven't followed the Captiva BAEA (that's the scientific version, which I got drummed into me at Starr Ranch, here's the source:... ... ... EEEEEKKKK !!! This has brought it to my attention that I've lost ALL my bookmarks, Google discontinued them when I wasn't looking. Here are the ALPHA CODES... which have recently been updated and revised.
EDIT - SWFL FB. NEFL FB
From the American Eagle Foundation FB:
We are cautiously optimistic - ground crew was able to get to the Hamlet to check on the tree and nest. While there are uprooted trees and much standing water, the nest tree appears to have remained solid through the storm and the nest appears to be intact! What a fortress! Now we anxiously await the return of Samson and Gabrielle! Samson will be in his glory with all the new sticks close by at his disposal!

Thank you, BART!
BTW, the Sydney perries have their first hatch and I started a new thread yesterday.
Fantastic news!
SWFL eagles - Harriet and M15 are safe and have been seen on their nest tree this morning! Link to Desiree Deliz Photography Fb post.
NEFL eagles - All 4 cams are back online at nefleaglecam.org (not as yet on YT). Both Samson and Gabrielle have been on their nest.
